Spellbinders Holiday Blooms

Hi card making friends and welcome back.  Today I’m sharing a Christmas In July card created with the new Spellbinders Holiday Blooms die set.  LOVE this new die set, I think it’s the Be Bold Blooms Etched Die set for the Holidays, haha.  The set everyone wants, and needs.  There are 26 dies in this set so you can just create away making all kinds of beautiful bouquets.  Use a few, use them all.  My card today is pretty packed and I think I used about half of them.

The Holiday Blooms Die Set is part of the New July Celebrate the Season Collection at Spellbinders.  Full of beautiful dies, glimmer foil plates and fabulous stamps just in time to get an early start on your Holiday card making.

Today’s post is also part of the Christmas In July Celebration that Spellbinders is having in honor of this fabulous new release.

My card share today is again non traditional holiday colors as I’m not a huge fan of red and green.  I chose to go down the teal blue road with Spellbinders beautiful card stock in Waterfall, teal topaz, Lagoon and Blue Spruce.  I highlighted the teal with pops of these beautiful white detailed etched poinsettia and mirror gold die cut highlights.

How to create the Spellbinders Holiday Blooms Card:

Start by embossing the card front with the Universal Plate System and the  NEW Circle Illusion Embossing Folder before attaching it to a side folding white A2 sized card base.  This gives you great “background noise” without taking too much attention away from the art piece/focal point of your card.

Next, cut out the foliage from the Holiday Blooms Die set in various shades of the teal cardstock.  I laid mine it with the darker colors in the back.

Then, use Bearly Art Glue and Foam Squares to attach the pieces to the card front.

Next, die cut the white poinsettias with their beautiful etched detail.  There is a small and large die for you to layer to add dimension to each flower.

I added 3 smaller white background flowers with a teal stem as well so I could spread out the white contrast on the card.

Finally, die cut the floral centers from mirror gold cardstock to add a burst of bling.

Adding the Sentiment.

I used one of my favorite Glimmer Foil holiday sentiment sets, the Yana’s Christmas Sentiments for today’s card.  Glimmered in Polished Brass Foil to match the flower centers on my card.  I love this set because it’s small, has two fonts and has the coordinating dies to cut them out which is such a time saver.

TIP – when I set up my foiling machine, I usually foil all of the plates in the set at once.  That way I can die cut them out and save them in the plastic envelope for future cards.  I find this a huge time saver when I’m time crunched to finish cards.

Embellishing:

By the time this card was finished, I had a serious discussion with myself about adding bling.  I wanted to, I really did, just a few rhinestones I told myself….but I refrained.  I’m crazy for rhinestones, but in the end I decided it didn’t need them.

I hope you enjoyed today’s card share, and hop over to the Spellbinders Blog and check out all the inspiration they are sharing today for their Christmas in July celebration.

  1. The color scheme is so pretty. You wrote that you were fighting yourself not to add bling; I would have been fighting myself not to add a pop (just a small one!) of red somewhere. Lovely work. BTW you crack me up every single time with your little “haha.” It makes me laugh or at least smile every time I read that.
