Easy Shaker Card with the Simon Says Stamp Leaf Dance

I’m sliding in with a quick post today!  We have a house full of company; it’s summer, and I love you guys and appreciate you following me, but I want to be outside, LOL.  So, the Simon Says Stamp Leaf Dance Flowers and Frame die was the perfect option for today’s Easy Shaker Card.

The leafy frame is cut from a single die that cuts beautifully, while the flowers are created with just two additional dies that cut all the blooms at once.  That means less time die cutting and more time creating!  I finished the design with a little ink blending to add depth and dimension, and I’m sharing all the steps below.

Ink-blended green foliage and purple flowers surround a teal shaker window filled with clear sequins, with a white embossed sentiment reading "Celebrating another year to bloom." The card is styled with purple and green cardstock, a black fountain pen, scattered iridescent gems, and greenery on a white background.

The white embossed sentiment reads, "Celebrating another year to bloom." The card is photographed on purple and lime green cardstock with a fountain pen, heart-shaped dish of gems, scattered iridescent embellishments, and greenery on a white background.

How to create the Easy Shaker Card:

Create the Card Base:

Start with a white A2-sized top-folding card base.

I had a watercolor panel in my stash that I had previously sprayed with Distress Sprays, so I trimmed it to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and attached it to the front of the card.  White heat emboss the sentiment on the center-right side of the panel.

Create the Shaker Frame:

Use the A2 Rectangles Dies to cut three white frames.  Stack and glue them together, then adhere a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of acetate to the back.

Apply strips of foam tape around the entire back of the frame, making sure there are no gaps where the shaker bits could escape.  Set aside.

Die Cut the Leaf Frame and Flowers:

Die cut the Leaf Dance Flowers and Frame Die from Peridot cardstock.  Ink Blend the foliage with Juniper Ink to add depth and shadow.

Die cut the flowers from white cardstock using the two coordinating flower dies.  Ink blend them with Lilac, Orchid, Ocean, Zest and Honey Inks.

Attach the leafy frame to the top of the white shaker frame and then add the flowers using foam squares for more dimension.

Assemble the Card:

Lay the card base flat on your work surface and pour a small pile of Starbright Embellishment Mix into the center of the card.
Remove the release paper from the foam tape on the back of the shaker frame, then carefully position it over the card front and press firmly into place.  This traps the embellishments inside the shaker, creating a fun interactive birthday card that’s as easy to make as it is to shake!
