Welcome back, cardmaking friends! Today’s STAMPtember special is Embossing Folders with coordinating Stencils. I have some fresh Embossing Folder Ideas to share with you, this time incorporating coordinating stencils and dies.
I’m creating with the Party Balloons Embossing Folder, which comes with a coordinating stencil and die. These fabulous tools make it so easy to create bright, cheerful birthday cards, and I have two colorful designs to share with you today.
For a fun twist, I created one card using the positive side of the embossing and the other using the negative side. Two different looks from the same embossing folder!
I’d love to know which one you prefer. Let me know in the comments below!

Products used to create today’s Stamptember Party Balloons Birthday Cards:
- Party Balloons Embossing Folder with Cutting Die and Stencil
- Handwritten Happy Birthday Sentiment
- Scripty Birthday Background Stamp
- Clear Pawsitively Dazzling Gems

How to create the STAMPtember Party Balloons Birthday Cards:
These two cards may look similar, but they’re actually opposites! They use the same colors, applied the same way, but create two distinct looks. I’ll quickly walk you through both techniques below.

How to Create Card #1: Colorful Party Balloons Birthday Cards:
Emboss a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ panel of white cardstock with the Party Balloons Embossing Folder. Flip to the indented side, turn the coordinating stencils over, and ink-blend the balloons with Cadette, Dublin, Peony, Amethyst, and Zest Ink.
Gently drag the Surf Ink pad across the surface to color the background, creating a soft, muted effect on some of the balloons too.
Die-cut and emboss three additional balloons, ink-blend them in coordinating colors, and tie white string to each. Attach them to the cente rof the card with foam squares. Use a #10 white Gelly pen to add highlights down the left side of the balloons.
Ink-blend white cardstock with Dublin Ink and die-cut the shadow from the Handwritten Happy Birthday die set. Die-cut the sentiment die from white cardstock, layer the pieces, and attach with foam squares over the balloon strings.
Finish with a few Clear Pawsitively Dazzling Gems for a little sparkle.

How to Create Card #2: Colorful Party Balloons Birthday Cards:
Start with a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ panel of white cardstock and white heat-emboss it with the Scripty Birthday Background Stamp. Next, emboss the panel with the Party Balloons Embossing Folder, ensuring the text is on the raised side.
Using the coordinating stencils, ink-blend the balloons in your chosen colors. Gently wipe away any excess ink with a clean, dry cloth.
Ink-Blend a piece of white cardstock with Peony ink and die-cut the shadow die from the Handwritten Happy Birthday Die set. Die-cut the sentiment in white, layer the pieces together, and attach to the card front with foam squares for added dimension.
With such a fun, busy background, I decided to skip any additional embellishments and let those colorful balloons shine!
