Happy World Cardmaking Day! I have a new video to share with you today featuring a fun Distress Oxide Watercolor Embossing Technique. We’ll add Distress Oxide Inks directly to the embossing folder, spritz our watercolor paper with water, and emboss it to create the beautiful, soft, mottled background. Then we’ll add more color to the raised design and finish it all off with a gorgeous touch of golden shimmer.
I’m in love with this new Pumpkin Wreath 3D embossing Folder from Simon Says Stamp. It was released in September, but I didn’t get a chance to play with it until now. I thought World Cardmaking Day was the perfect opportunity to pull it out and add Video #9 to my Embossing Folder Magic Series.
So grab your supplies and let’s make a card together

Products used for the Distress Oxide Watercolor Embossing Card:
Pumpkin Wreath 3D Embossing Folder
With Thanks Stamp and Die Bundle
Distress Oxide Inks: Linked Below:
Pumice Stone, Frayed Burlap, Gathering Twigs – for the background
Gathering Twigs, Bundled Sage, Rustic Wilderness, Rusty Hinge, and Seedless Preserves for the wreath
Twine or May Arts Wrinkled Faux Silk Ribbon

Card Cuts:
Card Base: White 4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″
Card front: Spellbinders Acorn 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
Ranger Watercolor Paper 4″ x 5-1/4″ (2 – one for card front, and one for sentiments)
Steps to creating the Distress Oxide Watercolor Embossing Card:
Add Pumice Stone, Frayed Burlap, and Gathering Twigs ink to the indented side of the embossing folder.
Spritz the watercolor panel with water, and place it on the clean side of the embossing folder. Close the folder and run it through the die-cutting machine to emboss the design and create the soft mottled watercolor background at the same time.
Dry the panel with a heat tool.
Use small blending brushes and sponge daubers to add additional Distress Oxide Inks to the raised details of the wreath.
Lightly spritz the panel with Distress Spritz Fossilized Amber to add a beautiful golden shimmer.
Attach the Acorn cardstock panel to the card base, then adhere the finished art panel on top.
Create a bow from the twine and adhere it to the bottom right corner of the wreath.
Heat-emboss the sentiment, die-cut it, and attach it across the center of the wreath.
