Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Well I’m sneaking in just under the wire with a couple more Christmas card making ideas to share with you. These are created with the Forest Greenery Border Die from the Holiday Sparkle Release. This beautiful die cuts out a fabulous pine trim full of needles and leaves and is not only perfect for Christmas cards, but winter in general, or masculine cards too. It would be awesome with a die cut deer over it don’t you think? Maybe a squirrel or a bird? My mind came up with a boatload of ideas, but no time, haha…..

I’m playing with lighter greens today mixed with golds. I really love this color combination. The card on the left is created with light Mint card stock. The one on the right is watercolor paper, spritzed with Distress Oxide Ink Sprays in Speckled Egg, Peeled Paint and Cracked Pistachio. I like them both, but I really like the depth of color on the sprayed one on the right, so let’s start with that one shall we.
How to Create the Forest Greenery Border Die Card #1
Start with a piece of watercolor paper 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and spray it with Distress Oxide Ink in Speckled Egg, Peeled Paint and Cracked Pistachio
Next, once that is dry, splatter with water and Gansai Tambi Gold Paint – again, let it dry.
Then, mount it to a White A2 card base, 4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″.
Creating the Overlay:
Start by cutting the die twice from mint green cardstock.
Next, cover it with Gina K Glitz Glitter Gel – Iridescent (I used an old paintbrush for this step – don’t use a good watercolor brush). Set it aside to dry
Then, while the dies are drying, gold emboss the sentiment from the Christmas Blessing Stamp and Die Set on a strip of white cardstock.
Finally, glue the die cuts across the front of the card. Attach the sentiment banner over that and embellish with Simons Stay Gold Sequins (these are flat sequins, and I love them for mailing).
Forest Greenery Border Die Card #2
Start by dry embossing a mint green card front measuring 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ with the Delicate Pine Branches Embossing Folder.
Next, use your finger to add VersaMark Ink over the embossed sections, cover with gold embossing powder, shake off the excess and heat set.
PRO – TIP – I have a video for this technique here:
Then, mount to a white, top folding A2 sized card base.
Finally, Cut the Forest Greenery Border die from Matt Gold Cardstock and mount down the left side of the card.
Then, Embellish with stay gold sequins, and add a sentiment created with the Christmas Blessings Stamp and Die Set (You will never need another Christmas Sentiment set after this one).
