Distress Oxide Ink Techniques Easy Layered Backgrounds #4

Hi crafty friends, today I have a NEW VIDEO – Distress Oxide Ink Techniques Easy Layered Backgrounds #4 to share with you.

Recently, Tim Holtz announced his newest color Distress Oxide Ink Speckled Egg.  I decided it was the perfect opportunity to create a new video incorporating the new color.

Plus, I added a simple stencil technique to the mix with the Geo Leaves Stencil from Simon Says Stamp.

The NEW Speckled Egg Distress Oxide Ink is a soft chalky light blue and coordinates beautifully with many of the original colors.

Card #1

First, blend the three inks over the card front through the NEW GEO LEAVES STENCIL from the Simon Says Stamp Crafty Hugs Release.

Next, add thin layer of the Gina K Designs Glitz Glitter Gel.

NOTE:  The jar I’m using in the video came in the Beautiful Butterflies Card Kit and is a smaller sample bottle, but the regular sized ones are available through Simon.  (this stuff smells amazing).

Also, I die cut the Etched Linear Heart die from Simon Says Stamp from Sea Glass card stock.  I used it as a backdrop for my sentiment.  I love the added texture of those thin lines.

Finally, I added the Script Hello sentiment from Simon Says Stamp and the “Miss you so” from the CZ Designs Sentiment Strips – Miss You from the Hey Bestie Release.

Card #2

To start, the card front starts with a full ink blending of the three colors

Once done, heat set the ink before covering it with the Geo Leaves Stencil.

Using the Blending Brushes, add a second layer of the colors through the stencil, adding Evergreen Bough ink over the speckled egg portion at the top, and Speckled Egg over the Black Soot at the bottom to ensure the design would stand out.

Full details of this are in the video below.
