Ellen Hutson Pressing Thoughts

HI cardmaking friends and welcome back.  Today is a New Release over at Ellen Hutson.  I’m creating with the fabulous NEW Ellen Hutson Pressing Thoughts stamp and die set which I’m super excited about.

You know me, I love to color flowers, although it feels like ages since I have.  Pansies were my mom’s favorite flower.   She had Johnny Jump Ups (tiny pansies that seeded and grew everywhere), and large pansies in every color in her gardens. Today, I’m painting her favorites, the purple and blue pansy faces.

three hand made cards watercolor and stamped with the Pressing Thoughts stamp set from Ellen Hutson

Instructions for the Ellen Hutson Pressing Thoughts cards:

I used Zig Markers on all three cards, and I’ll just quickly go through the process and give you the measurements for each card.

Stamp them all the Misti Stamping Tool.

Stamp them in VersaFine Clair Nocturne Ink, cover with clear embossing powder and heat set.

They are all stamped on watercolor paper.

Once painted, splatter them all with Black Paint

Finally, the embellishments are all Pretty Pink Posh – Party Mix – I dug out all the purple ones.

Instructions for the Watercolor Slimline Card:

The Slimline Card front is 3-1/4 x 8-1/4 watercolor paper.

Place the stamp sideways in the center of the Misti and move your paper instead of the ink stamp to stamp the image three times across the front.

Leave a space in the center right section for the sentiment.

Use the wet-on-wet watercolor method to add the ink.  Wet a petal with the water brush, add a small amount of ink from the zig marker and blend with the water brush.

Once all the flowers are colored, add a wash to the background with watered down ink.

Finally, when dry, attach the card front to the card base.  Fog cardstock, 7 x 8-1/2, score the 7″ side at 3-1/2 and fold and burnish.

Instructions for the Ellen Hutson Pressing Thoughts Mini Slimline Card:

Cut the watercolor paper at 3 x 6.

The steps are all the same as the slimline card.

Create the card base for the Mini Slimline Card:   Cut the cardstock at 6-1/4 x 6-1/2, score the 6-1/2 side at 3-1/4 fold and burnish.

Stamp the image and emboss in clear.

Create a background wash with the three colors down the left side of the card

Watercolor the floral image

Finally, place the piece back into the Misti to stamp the sentiment.

Attach to a side folding A2 sized card base.  5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored and folded at 5-1/2
