Fairytails and Dandelions – New Video

Hi stamping friends, I have a Fairytails and Dandelions – New Video to share with you today.

Today’s card making video is an introduction to LAVINIA stamps.  I first came across them just a bit ago and I’m in a full on love affair with them now, haha….  This is also a fabulous lesson on blending with Distress Oxide Inks and creating fun card making backgrounds for your projects.

Some of the stamps used in this video that I created 3 years ago are no longer available so I have linked some newer stamps that would work well for this card.

Visit my Card Making Backgrounds page for more fabulous ideas for your card backgrounds.

Today’s NEW CARD MAKING VIDEO

shows you how easy these Distress Oxide inks are to blend.  Then we add a little splatter and some background noise stamping! – Looks crazy difficult right?  It isn’t – it’s super easy and no special skills required.  My video walks you through each step, start to finish, each layer at a time – video below.

My biggest problem with this project; is I love those dandelion stamps so much, I think I over used them the first time (card below). (I have linked some very cool Mushrooms at the end of the video that will work well if you can’t find the dandelion stamp).

it’s a tiny bit busy for my liking, LOL. I don’t think I needed 6 dandelions – talk about hay fever, haha.

Back to the video – I also include a little masking (her wings), and reverse masking (the moon), using the Inkadinkado Mask Paper (my new love) and a post it note.

I wanted the wings to pop a little so I added some Wink of Stella, and a bit after this in the video, I get myself in a little trouble when I squeeze the pen a bit too hard, haha.

This is the card I create with you in the video – only 3 dandelions (put the antihistamines away, LOL)

Hi Sandi – these are so beautiful. I have these Lavinia stamps and love them.
Just perfect for using with Distress Inks. So much fun!!

  2. Sandi, this card is gorgeous. I have always loved your work. I started practicing using the distress oxide sprays and I’m not a fan. Maybe because I’m not using them the right way. Do you need to heat set the sprays? I have the oxide ink pads coming and I’m happy I watched your video. I would have never thought to heat set. Can’t wait to see what you do next.

    1. thank you Sandy. I’m ordering the distress oxide sprays next, I have not had to heat set sprays in the past, but I’ll let you know ok, haha.

  3. Your card is absolutely stunning! I always love fairies, your work is as beautiful as ever. Thank you for sharing

  4. Sandi, I have been reading your blog for years – quietly – but I have to comment today because I really love the artwork of this card. You are a true Paper artiste!

  5. Hi Sandi, I am also playing with Lavinia stamps and loving them. I am so happy to see your video using the stamps.

    1. Hi Gail, thank you and I’m happy I’m not the only one having all this fun with these stamps. Stay tuned, more to come
