How to label your Distress Oxide Ink Pads

Hello my crafty friends.  It’s Sunday so that’s my Distress Oxide Series day and today I’m sharing how to label your Distress Oxide Ink Pads.

It’s been a question I get asked a lot each week when I have been doing the Distress Oxide Videos, so I decided to do a quick video and share the PDF File that I created for the labels to help you label yours in accurate colors.

I say accurate, because Ranger does have a PDF you can download with the color printed on them, however all printers do not print the same colors, so they are not accurate.  My PDF let’s you blend the color right onto the label before you attach it to the side of your ink pad.

Label your Distress Oxide Inks

I created a PDF for the labels you can print it HERE.

I print it onto 8-1/2 x 11 Labels which you can get on Amazon here.  Regular paper on the front, sticky on the back.  I show them to you in the video

The PDF has the names of all of the ink pads, and in between each line, there is a dash at the beginning and the end of the line, those are the cutting markers.

Simply line those cutting dashes up on the cutting line in your cutter and cut the entire sheet into strips, resulting in the perfect width for your ink pad, and three colors per strip.

Another question, is the tags on my blending tools.  These are done with the same PDF sheet, I just trim the tag really close to the writing after I color it, and stick it to the handle.

I do a lot of ink blending for my work so for me, it’s easier to have a handle for each color and having the sticker on top, helps me see them in my drawer quickly and easily.

Blending Tool Drawer

And speaking of my blender tool drawer….that cool divider in there keeps everything neat and tidy for me.  It’s out of an essential oils tray and  came from Amazon – here

They seem to have changed the size since I purchased mine, so now you need two to get the same spacing.  I painted mine white before adding it to my drawer, because I’m all about matchy matchy haha, and a little OCD too.

The drawer in the picture is part of a 3 drawer storage system I purchased at Michael’s, it’s 13.5 x 14 inches.  Those dividers also work in the Ikea “Alex” drawers.

Ranger Distress Oxide Color Index sheet

Near the end of the video I show you a Distress Oxide Ink Color Grid.  I say it’s from Jennifer McGuire, sorry, it’s actual from Ranger Ink HERE

This enables you to swatch all your colors, and let’s you know which colors you have and which colors you need.  My Husband gifted me my “needed” colors for Christmas so happily, after today’s video, I now have the set and they are all tagged and put away.  YEAH….more OCD, haha.

Here’s the short video walking you through the simple process of tagging your products to make organizing your colors simple and effective.

Thanks so much for visiting me today and I hope you enjoyed the project.  I’ve listed the products I used below.  Clicking on the image will take you directly to the product.  Where available I use compensated affiliate links which means if you make a purchase through my link, I receive a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Thank you so very much for your support, it helps to keep my blog and YouTube channel running and I truly appreciate it.

  1. Thanks Sandi – I too love to be organized.
I will use your PDF you created for sure. I like this better than the Ranger one available. Thanks so much for creating this.
Being organized sure helps me use my products more – actually know what you have purchased so you don’t buy it again. lol
If you have any storage tips for the bigger stamps 6X6 etc that would be great.
Freezing here in Ottawa today (minus 27) so a good day to spend in the craft room.

    1. Thank you Marian, I like these because the colors are true, not like the color printed one.
I will have more storage ideas coming as I work to clean up and organize my space. And yes, having these sheets really does help to eliminate duplicate purchases. LOL.
Freezing here in alberta too, stay warm.

  2. Hello Sandi. Thanks for this video & pdf! Great ideas & really helpful! I like the accurate colors & keeping a chart of which colors I have & which I need. Curious about the size & type of drawer you put the ink blending tools in. Thanks!
    Susan

    1. Hi Susan, the drawer is 13.5 x 14 inches and part of a three drawer pack of the storage units you can buy at Michaels. Those dividers also fit into the ikea drawers as well.

  3. Hello! Just now finding you after googling “how to label TH oxide ink pads.” What are you storing the pads in? It’s in the background in one of your photos. Many thanks.
