Every time I post a card with Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil highlights on it, I get emails asking how the machine works where to get the products etc. So, my card making friends, here’s a HOW TO USE THE GLIMMER HOT FOIL MACHINE Video tutorial for you along with some helpful information about Glimmer Hot Foiling.
HOW TO USE THE GLIMMER HOT FOIL MACHINE
I have created a how to video attached below and added information to this post on using the machine, where to purchase products etc.
WHAT IS THE GLIMMER HOT FOIL MACHINE?
The Glimmer Hot Foil System is an easy to use device that adds foiled elements to various materials such as cardstock, fabric, ribbon, leather and more.
It heats up the foiling plates allowing the foil to be transferred to the different materials once run through a die cutting machine*.
In the cardmaking world, we are usually foiling cardstock, but I have also foiled vellum, and cello bags too.
The product is from SPELLBINDERS and is also sold at SIMON SAYS STAMP, ELLEN HUTSON LLC and SCRAPBOOK.COM
What’s in the box?
The Glimmer Hot Foil Machine comes with everything pictured above.
- Hot Foil Stamp Press Machine
- Power Cord
- Heat Resistant Acrylic Spacer Shim
- Thin Heat Resistant Acrylic Spacer Shim
- Silicone Cooling Pad
- Magnetic Pick-up Tool
- Two Starter Foil Rolls (silver and gold)
- Two Starter Hot Foil Plates (frame & Sentiment).
WHERE CAN I GET HOT FOIL PLATES TO USE IN MY MACHINE?
Spellbinders has a huge category on their website of HOT FOIL PLATES.
They also have a monthly exclusive Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month Club where you get a new kit each month for hot foiling. I love this club, you get a great kit each month with a new color of foil and it coordinates with the other kits of the month as well. It’s economical and a great way to grow your stash.
Simon Says Stamps also carries many of the Spellbinders plates, and they have now started their own brand of Simon Says Stamp Hot Foil Plates.
Pinkfresh Studios has a selection of Hot Foil Plates that coordinate with many of their products.
Altenew also has some Hot Foil Plates in their card making product selections.
(I’ll add to this list as more companies bring these products on line).
Here is a video on How to use the Glimmer Hot Foil Machine
This is how I like to use it. Many crafters have different ways of using these machines and what works for them. This video is what works for me.
