Hi stamping friends and welcome back. I’m catching up on my #thedailymarker30day color challenge and today’s Rainbow Love post is for Day 9. Weekends always trip me up for these daily challenges because Ian is home so we are out gallivanting around or creating something in our yard and that leaves no time for coloring haha…. So, creating a quick background and over-stamping a silhouette stamp, is a perfect time saving technique.
For today’s card I’m playing with the Home Sweet Home stamp set from Simon Says Stamp newest release Rest and Refresh.
I decided to put down my copics and give another medium some love, so out came my Zig Clear Color Markers.
Zig markers are awesome to color with. The pigment and water are in the barrel of the pen, it has a lovely paint brush tip, and you just color (or paint). The pigment is water based, so you can use a paint brush and water to lighten the colors and spread them out a bit too. I love that I get a watercolor image with NO MESS!……haha….although I do love a good creative mess.
You can purchase them individually or buy them in sets (see below). I purchased the large pack from Amazon and have purchased individual add ons from my favorite store, Simon Says Stamp.
For today’s cards I used:
- 084 – deep violet
- 033 – persian green
- 041 – light green
- 050 yellow
- 024 – wind red
- 025 -pink
Tips and Tricks for the Rainbow Love Cards:
- I started with a piece of watercolor paper and used the Zig markers to create the rainbow, starting from the bottom color in the list (Pink), on the left and working to the right. If you’re left handed, work the other way so you are not laying your hand into wet ink.
- Scribble some color down and then use a wet brush to move it around, repeat with all colors.
- I dried the piece with my heat tool before using my Misty to stamp the bird image.
- Then I layered it to a skinny black mat before attaching it to a A2 sized White card base.
The Home Sweet Home Stamp Set has four large silhouette images perfect for so many techniques, along with 12 sentiments covering a large variety of life events. As you can see, I have been having a lot of fun with this stamp set and there is more to come, so stay tuned.
I shared a couple of other cards created with this stamp set here:
