Simon Says Stamp Birthday Wishes

Hi card making friends and welcome back.  As you know Simon dropped a new BE CREATIVE release last night and I have yet another card to share with you today.  Today’s card is Simon Says Stamp Birthday Wishes.

Do you ever have one of those days where you have to clean your work space, mostly because there is no room to work!, LOL.  As you start to put things away, you have a pile of bits and pieces, and pretty soon, you have forgotten about cleaning, and there you are, piecing together a card with the bits and pieces.  Ok, well, long story, but that’s how this card came about.

I LOVE this card, I love how artsy it is, I love that it came from left overs and evolved into a pretty birthday card for a friend.

Simon Says Stamp Birthday Wishes

You may remember the background from THIS POST,  and THIS POST, where I was playing with my Lindy’s Magicals for the January color challenge.  I used Lucky Shamrock Green, Tibetan Poppy teal and Sweet Violet Purple Teal.  Once the piece was dry, I splattered it with Gold paint

How to create the Simon Says Stamp Birthday Wishes Card:

Start by cutting down the watercolor paper to 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″  and attach it to the front of a top folding A2 sized White Card Base.

Next, die cut the Leafy Heart die three times from white cardstock.  Glue the pieces and stack (left over from a Valentine’s card I was making).  Glue to the center of the card front.

Then, on a second piece 4-1/4 x 5-1/2″ piece of watercolor paper, wet the paper, add the Sweet Violet Purple Teal powder, and move it around to cover the entire surface.

Finally, die cut the Layered Rosebud pieces from the now purple cardstock.  Play around with the depth of color by adding more pigment, or wetting the paper down to remove pigment.

Putting the card together:

First, once the rose is dry, use glue and foam squares to layer it all together, then I added the Nuvo Gold Midas Touch glimmer pen to the rose, because I needed a pile of bling, LOL, and it matches the gold splat in the background.

Next, die cut the leaves from the Etched Meadow Flower and Leaves die, from the left over green magical paper and glue them in under the rose.

Finally, use the NEW REVERSE BIRTHDAY WISHES sentiment strips and attach with foam squares over the pretty heart.

I LOVE these REVERSE BIRTHDAY WISHES.  Each Release Simon comes out with a set.  They are printed on thick cardstock and you can get them in white or black.  Use your paper cutter to cut them into strips, and save them in a bag.  When you have  stamp set with no sentiments, or like today’s card, it’s all die cuts, these are perfect for adding sentiments.  Also, if you are in a hurry and don’t have time to stamp and/or cut out a sentiment.  I’m sure I have 20 sets of these in my studio.  Also, they save you buying sentiment stamps, and they are cheaper than stamps. Plus, they take up less space, LOL….have I talked you into them yet?  haha

  1. Really pretty card Sandi. It is always fun to out together a card from the odds and ends you have in your craft room. This card maybe have started like that but doesn’t look like a grouping of leftovers. Love the depth of color in the rose and the artsy feel of the background.

    1. thank you Linda. If you saw my pile of UFO”S (unfinished objects), haha, I could probably make 10 cards from that drawer, LOL, and this was just new stuff sitting on my desk, LOL. But thank you, it was a happy result.

  2. Absolutely gorgeous! The Linda’s powders are so beautiful and the depth on your rose is gorgeous with that rich pink/purple.all the texture and detail is stunning girl!
