Spellbinders So Kind of You Glimmer

Hey paper crafters.  I’m back today with Spellbinders So Kind of You Glimmer.  This is the beautiful March Glimmer Kit of the month and once again, it’s pretty fabulous.  It has a background plate that you glimmer twice at each end of your card front.  Then a center panel to glimmer with a coordinating die and then, a sentiment with a scalloped edge cut out.  Phew, all of that, makes this beautiful card in a matter of minutes.  All you have to decide, is what color you want it.

My color scheme for this month is yellow, orange and pink, and I seem to be into water coloring and ink blending as my techniques.  So, today’s card is ink blended with Distress Oxide Inks in Festive Berries, Ripe Persimmon and Squeezed Lemonade.  My next post has a video where I share with you how I watercolor and ink blend with these colors, so stay tuned for that.

Spellbinders So Kind of You Glimmer

This month’s Glimmer of the Month Kit comes with a beautiful Cobalt Blue Glimmer Foil, however as my color choices are all warm, I decided to go with Polished Brass Foil.

How to create the Spellbinders So Kind of You Glimmer Card:

Start with a white Hammermill card front 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and starting at one end with the Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide Ink, blend the color 1/3 the way up.

Next, add the Ripe Persimmon in the middle third and finish with the Festive Berries at the far end.  NOTE – Make two of these.

PRO-TIP – I find doing a second layer of each color really evens out the colors and makes them blend better.

Then, tape the foil and background panel onto the piece and foil.  Repeat to foil the other end.

Finally, attach this piece to a top folding A2 sized white card base.

Creating the Center Sentiment Panel:

Start with the second ink blended panel, tape down the center overlay plate on the center orange section and foil and run it through the Glimmer machine.

Next, cut this piece out with the coordinating die.

Then, Foil the sentiment up in the pink portion of the ink blend and cut that out with the scalloped oval die.

Finally, use foam tape to attach both of these to the center portion of the card.

TIP:  I had some left over gold cut out pieces from the Small Die of the Month card in the last post, so I added those around the sentiment.  You could also color some of the foiled flowers if you wanted a bit more “background noise” on your card.  I decided with the ombre color blend, that was enough.
