Masculine Valentines Card

Hey cardmaking friends, Happy New Year.  Today on my cardmaking blog, I’m jumping right in with the Spellbinders new Large Die of the Month Kit for January and a Masculine Valentines Card.  This die set can create a pocket in which you can slide a sentiment piece in and out.  I chose not to do that but to use the elements to create a A2 sized card instead.

I also chose to try some non traditional colors for this day of love.  Black, White, Kraft with a bit of gold.

How to create the Masculine Valentines Card:

Die cut the main floral panel in kraft and the blank behind it in white and glue them together.

The floral piece has separate dies.  Die cut them in black, white and gold, and layer them on top of the base kraft flower.

TIP – you will have to cut another main floral panel, and cut out that center white piece in the flower bud.

Next, attach a black card front to a top folding A2 white cards base and then attach the art piece to the bottom.

Finally, cut the filigree heart also from kraft and attach to the top, covering the top of the v cut out.

Adding the Sentiment:

The sentiment is foiled in Polished Brass Foil using the January Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month – Love Enclosed.  There is a beautiful selection of sentiments in the kit this month and some lovely hearts too, I’ll be sharing some cards using those later in the month.

I decided to quit here.  This card is for my hubby Ian and he’s a plain and simple guy.  But, you could add some Color Essential Gems for a bit of added bling.

There is a beautiful selection of dies in this Large Die of the Month Kit and they can be used for regular A2 sized cards as well as the pocket card design.  I will share a more traditional one in a few days.  Until then, get yours ordered so you can play along with us.
