Hi card making friends and welcome back to a brand new week of stamping. Over the last couple of days I have been working with the New August card kit from Simon Says Stamp Vintage Garden. Another lovely kit and I tried again to only use what was in the kit to create my 4 cards to share with you. I did use a couple of extra dies noted below.
The kits always contain items I have thought about purchasing, but haven’t. It’s fun to dig them out and give them a go. This month, Simon’s Ultra Fine Silver Embossing Powder is absolutely beautiful. The other surprise for me, was the Smoke card stock. I LOVE it as a backdrop to my cards, especially with the new and very beautiful Wildflower Meadows pattern paper.
Also in the kit this month is a NEW 3D embossing Folder Picnic Floral. You can see that down the side of card #4 where I embossed a strip of the Rose Gold Metallic Cardstock also included in the kit and it’s just stunning.
Sorry this post is so late today,
I had a pile of doctor appointments last week for my 6 month cancer check up. My Oncologist is in Edmonton and he is retiring, so that added a pile of stress, as I now get referred to a new one. Also met my new Dermatologist in Calgary, he is funny and sweet, so good move. AND, a new family doctor here in Cochrane that I really like too. All in all, positive moves, and my results are clean, (Yeah), but very time consuming, so I’m playing catch up on work.

I created a variety of cards trying to use as many elements from the kit as I could.
First, I started from the left with a purple Slimline Card using the New 6 x 8 Vintage Garden clear stamp set.
Next, middle bottom, a combo of the pattern paper and one of the smaller stamps on die cut center images.
Above, a Distress Oxide Ink blended background showcasing the silhouette images in the set.
Finally, using the beautiful Wildflower Meadows pattern paper with a pretty strip of embossed Rose Gold Metallic cardstock. Card Recipes are below for each.
Simon Says Stamp Vintage Garden Slimline Card
The Misti stamping tool is a must for this one. Stamp the beautifully outlined floral images around the edge of a 3-1/4 x 8-1/4″ piece of lavender card stock.
Stamp the butterfly on a separate scrap and fussy cut out.
Next, mount the piece to a 3-3/8 x 8-3/8 black mat and then to a white card base 7.50 x 8-3/4, scored and folded at 3-3/4″.
Then, use the Ultra Fine Silver Embossing folder to emboss the sentiment on a piece of black cardstock and die cut with layering circle dies.
Attach with the NEW (and I love them), Foam Squares from Simon (you get a sheet to try in the kit).
Finally, add some silver or clear gems around the sentiment
Simon Says Stamp Vintage Garden Card #2
Cut the card base 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, score and fold at 4-1/4 and attach the 4 x 5-1/4 card front all in the smoke card stock
Next, use stitched edge rectangle dies to cut out two panels for the card front, one in smoke and one in the Wildflower Meadows pattern paper.
Place the smoke one into the Misti to stamp the floral image with Versa Fine Clair Nocturne ink and then heat emboss the sentiment at the top.
Then, wrap twine around the art piece before attaching both to the card front with foam squares.
Finally, add silver or clear Rhinestones.
Distress Oxide Ink Blending Card #3
I just received the New TIM HOLTZ Distress Oxide Ink in Uncharted Mariner so I had to incorporate it into a card to try it out. It’s such a fabulous blue (it’s the bottom color).
Start by ink blending the 4 x 5-1/4 white card base with the Distress Oxide Inks in Speckled Egg, Peacock Feathers, Uncharted Mariner (top to bottom).
Dry the piece with a heat tool before placing into the Misti to stamp the images in Versa Fine Clair Nocturn Ink.
Next, mount to a top folding 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 card base.
No embellish this card, as a sympathy card, I wanted to keep the card really clean and simple. I did think about adding some white colored pencil to some of the flowers and butterfly. In the end I left it alone and I’m quite happy with it.
Simon Says Stamp vintage Garden Card #4
Like many of you, I’m currently dividing my time between card making and canning. I love “putting up” for winter. When I saw this pattern paper with the little ball jars on it, I just had to create with it.
Cut the card base from Smoke card stock. (there are three included in the kit but I used half of one for a card front). 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, score and fold at 4-1/4
Next, cut a 3/4 x 5-1/4 strip of the Rose Gold Metallic card stock and place inside the Picnic Floral Embossing folder. Run it through the die cut machine and attach it down the left side of the card front.
Then, cut the pattern paper at 3-1/4 x 5-1/4 for the right side of the card.
Finally, silver heat emboss the sentiment and cut it out with the circle dies before attaching it to the card front with foam squares.
Add a few rhinestones/gems for a pop of bling.
