Hey card making friends, I have a NEW CARD MAKING VIDEO – My Favorite Spellbinders 2024 Clubs. I was having so much fun with the May tropical vibe kits from Spellbinders, I decided to turn on the camera and film my favorites, and share how I created some of the cards I made this month. It’s a bit of a long video because there are so many cards shared in it, so I hope you enjoy it.

I love that the clubs have a theme and all the products play off each other, it makes it so fun to create. I find that I love to die cut and color a pile of the pieces, then I sit and create a few different backgrounds. Next, I audition the pieces on the card, adding and taking away until I’m happy with the results.
In today’s video, I’m doing just that, I share a few different backgrounds and how I decorated them to come up with the cards.
Spellbinders Large Die of the Month – Grand Tropics Flamingos
This is a 5 x 7″ card, with a background created with the Nuvo Shimmer Powders in Green Parade and Falling Leaves on Canson Watercolor Paper.
Next, the paper was embossed with this months 3D embossing folder Scattered Tropics, to create the jungle effect behind the flamingos.
Then, speaking of flamingos, I cut them both out of pink sand cardstock, ink blending a bit of pink ink on the bottom to add a shadow. The legs and beaks are cut from black and white and these die cuts go together beautifully.
Finally, to embellish, I cut some of the large foliage leaves from three different shades of green cardstock. Ink blended with Simon Says Stamp Aegean ink for the leaves.
Spellbinders Small Die of the Month – Tropical Friends.
This is my absolute favorite die set this month. The toucan and parrot dies just make me giggle.
Start by using the Stencil of the Month Club – Tropical Spray, and two shades of Green ink to stencil the background.
Next, die cut an arch with the Make a Wish Arch Labels Dies to create a backdrop for the die cuts.
Then, cut and construct the adorable little parrot, some leaves and flowers. Flowers are ink blended with Taffy ink from Simon Says Stamp
Glue it all together and add a sentiment from the Clear Stamp and Die set for May – Let’s Get Together.
Spellbinders, Stitched Club of the Month – Stitched Pineapple.
I absolutely adore this month’s stitched club. It’s quick and easy and so fun to decorate with the toucan or parrot, some of the foliage, and some fun flowers too.
Start by embossing the card front with the Embossing Folder of the Month, Lattice Work and then ink blend in Lemonade Citrine and Rose inks.
Next, Ink blend a quarter sheet of white cardstock (4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″), with Bubblegum and Rose Ink. Once the ink is dry, die cut the base of the pineapple from it. Die cut the pineapple overlay in Sun kissed card stock. Stitch the pineapple with DMC thread #743.
Then, die cut the top from the 3 shades of green cardstock. ink blend with the Aegean ink, and layer the pieces to create the pineapple crown.
Finally, attach the pineapple to the card front and embellish with other elements.
Spellbinders Glimmer of the Month Kit – Tropical Bloom
This months Glimmer Kit is beautiful. A LARGE floral with two lovely sentiments to foil and coordinating dies to cut out the sentiments.
Start by embossing the card front with the Lattice Work Embossing Folder and then ink blending in Tidepool and Tropic inks from Simon Says Stamp.
Next, glimmer hot foil the flower in Polished Brass foil onto Hammermill White cardstock (this cardstock is superb for glimmer foiling).
Then, if you are a Deluxe Caboodle club member, you will have received two free bonus gifts this month. The Tropical Sentiments Better Press Plates and the Tropical Bloom Stencil Set. This stencil set is used to color in this beautiful Tropical Bloom. I used three shades of peach for this, Cheeky, Blush and Pucker from Simon Says Stamp.
Finally use Polished Brass foil to foil the sentiments onto black cardstock and cut out with the coordinating dies. Fussy cut out the flower and attach it to the front of the card.
Clear Stamp and Die of the Month – Let’s Get Together.
Start by stamping the images onto watercolor cardstock and coloring with Karin Markers.
Next, use the coordinating dies to cut out the images. I also used the new Spellbinders Paper Cutter to trim off the straight edges on these pieces.
Then, create a background by embossing the card front with the Lattice Work Embossing Folder and ink blending it in Seafoam and Surf inks.
Finally, attach the card front to a top folding A2 sized white card base (4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″).
Use white glue to attach the art pieces to the card front. Embellish with some Spectrum AB Color Essential Gems.
BetterPress Club – Wild and Free
I walk you through both of the BetterPress cards in the video as I love creating BetterPress images so much.
Start by placing the BetterPress plate onto the magnetic top of your BetterPress. Next, tape down the magnetic plate so it doesn’t move. Place a piece of BetterPress cotton cardstock into the top. Ink up the plate with Wildberry, Taffy, Azure, Teal Topaz and Saffron and then run through the Platinum 6 to Press.
Next, clean the plate but don’t remove it. Add the sentiment plate to the center and then remove the large outside plate. Ink the sentiment in black, and run it through the Platinum 6 again. This will press the sentiment to the center of the image in black ink for you.
For the second card, place both the plate and the sentiment onto the magnetic platform, ink in black ink and run through the Platinum 6.
Use Karin markers to color the image. (I also share this in the video).
That’s it, along with my previous posts, I have created all the cards for this month’s club releases.
