Spellbinders Little Blooms Hand Made Die Cut Card

Hey card making friends, a Happy Monday to you and if you are in Canada, Happy Canada Day.  To start the week off I’m sharing another card from the Out and About Collection – Spellbinders Little Blooms Hand Made Die Cut Card.  The Out and About collection is specially designed to fit inside the new smaller Die Cutting Machine now available at Spellbinders, the Scout.  This die set may be small in stature, but it has a big punch.
When you receive your new Scout Die Cutting Machine (I got the Lilac one and I love it), it has some goodies with it, cutting pads and platforms obviously, a little die set and a very pretty embossing folder which I am showcasing today in the background behind my pretty die cuts.

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure.

Hot out on the market right now seems to be Arch Dies.  I love making peek-a-boo holes (or wide frames) with them in my cards, so I did that today with the Spellbinders Essential Arches Die Set to showcase the Embossing Folder peeking out from the center.  This die set has 16 nested Arch dies so you can pretty much cut out any size of card window or arched tag you would ever need.      As far as I can tell, you cannot buy this embossing folder separately, it only comes with the Scout Machine, if I find out differently, I’ll update this post.

How to create the Spellbinders Little Blooms Hand Made Die Cut Card

Start by die cutting the flower and leaf dies from the Little Blooms Die Set numerous times in Pink Sand, Purple Mist, Chamomile and Peridot.

Next, add some shadowing by ink blending some Distress Oxide Inks to the pieces in Wild Honey, Fossilized Amber, Mowed Lawn, Wilted Violet and Worn Lipstick.

Then, use the Hello Smile die set from the Out and About Release, cut the hello in yellow and the shadow in green, add the darker yellow ink to the bottom of the hello, glue that together and set aside.

Building the card base for the Spellbinders Little Blooms Hand Made Die Cut Card

Start by cutting a white A2 sized card base from Hammermill cardstock, 4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2

Next, cut a piece of Chamomile 4″ x 5-1/4″, and die cut the arch out of the center.  Use a blending brush and add a little bit of Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink around the outside edges for some further shadowing.

Then, cut another piece of Hammermill White cardstock 3-3/4″ x 5-1/8″, spritz both sides with water and emboss it with the Scout Embossing Folder.  Once the paper is dry again, attach it to the back of the Yellow card front so you can see the embossing through the Arch cut out.

Finally, attach this to the white card base.

Add all the flowers and leaves and the sentiment to the center.  Embellish with Peridot Essential Gems for the centers of all the little white flowers up the right side, and some Gold Smooth Disks around the florals.

  2. Happy Canada Day, Sandi! Love the bright colors and use of the arches die. The Fossilized Amber makes a beautiful backdrop for the colorful flowers.
