Hi card making friends and welcome back.  Today I have Spellbinders Stitched Sunflowers Card to share with you from the September Stitched Die Club.  This set is AMAZING.  The flowers are super big making them so easy to stitch and layer.  The leaves are also large and easily stitched.  I showcased these lovely flowers over a beautiful Waterfall colored embossed card front using the Autumn Chevron Embossing Folder of the month.

I timed myself for this stitch-a-long, and it took 2 hours. Most designers have only made 1 flower, so that would reduce your time to 1 hour.  I used DMC Cotton 728, 875 and 164 and the flower centers are stitched with the DMC Gold Thread.

The card stock is all from Spellbinders, Chamomile, Terra Cotta, Peridot, Waterfall and Timber.

Spellbinders Stitched Sunflowers – Card making tutorial.

Start by using the Friendly Thanks Stitched Die of the Month Set to cut out the flower pieces from the colored card stock.  Ink blend the light yellow with Distress Oxide Inks, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and then Gathering Twigs.  Ink blend the rust colored cardstock with Gathering Twigs.  Ink blend the green leaves and stems with Rustic Wilderness and Pine Needles.

Next, once the ink is dry, stitch all the pieces.
PRO-TIP – With the large sunflowers, I used three strands of the cotton instead of two.  Because of the size, the stitches needed to be more substantial.

Then, stitch the dark brown centers with the Gold DMC Thread.

Finally, glue all the pieces together, placing something heavy on them until they are dry.

Spellbinders Stitched Sunflowers – Putting it all together.

Start by cutting a card front from Waterfall card stock, spritz both sides and emboss it with the Autumn Chevron September Embossing Folder of the Month.

Next, ink blend some turquoise ink across it to highlight the embossing.  Attach it to a top folding A2 sized white card base.  4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″.

Then, place it into a splat box, and splatter it with white and gold paint.  Separately, splatter the center of the flowers with the white, and the petals with a small amount of the paints.

Finally, use foam squares to attach all the pieces to the card, starting with the flowers, then the leaves and stems.  Die cut one of the sentiments from the set and attach in the bottom left corner.
