New Card Making Video – Adding Depth to Your Die Cuts

Hey card-making friends, welcome back. I have a new card-making video today: Adding Depth to Your Die Cuts. In today’s video, I’ll be using some new products from Alex Syberia Designs’ recent release: the Trendy Botanicals Die Set, the Heart Garland Cover Die, and the Thanks and Hugs Sentiment Die Set. Yep, an entire Die-Cut Card.

Affiliate links are used throughout this post at no additional cost to you.  This allows me to keep bringing you content.  I appreciate your support.

Using a light and a dark cardstock in the same color family is a great way to add depth to your card making.  Adding some deeper-color ink blending and/or shading, takes it that one step further and it’s super fast and easy to do.  In today’s video, I’m going to show you how.

How to create the Alex Syberia Designs Adding Depth to Your Die Cuts Card

Start by creating a white A2 sized card base 4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″.

Then, cut a matching card front 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and die cut it with the Heart Garland Cover Die before attaching it to the card base.  This creates a tone-on-tone background noise for the die cuts.

Next, die cut all the pieces required to create the bouquet and the sentiment.  Use light and dark cardstocks from the same color family to add interest and depth.

Then, using small 0 – shader brushes, add Distress Oxide Inks in Spiced Marmalade, Peacock Feathers and Pine Needles to add further shadows to the die cut pieces.

Finally, using small pieces of foam tape, add the bouquet to the card front.  Next, add the sentiment, then embellish with Simon Says Stamp Clear Pawsitively Dazzling Gems.

  2. A card after my own heart – die cuts! It’s gorgeous! The
colours and shades are great; so is the heart background!
