Alcohol Pearls Backgrounds New Video

Hi stamping friends, today I’m sharing some Alcohol Pearls Backgrounds New Video.

If you are reading this in an e-mail you may need to CLICK HERE to visit my blog to view the new video.

Tim Holtz introduced these new Alcohol Pearls at Creativation 2019.  There are 12 new colors in these specially blended inks.  The mixture is similar to using the Metallic Mixatives, but different in that the pearlization, is in the ink instead of being added on top.  Therefore, it doesn’t create a white sheen like the Mixatives, it shows a true color with a pearlized finish – truly stunning!  and worthy of a play.

For today’s cards I also decided to use the My Favorite Things – Flowers In Bloom Stamp and Die set as my overlay on my cards.  They are lovely flowers and a great size to watercolor which I did with my Gansai Tambi watercolors.  You could also use watercolor pencils/crayons, zig markers, tombow markers, etc.

I black heat embossed the images onto my watercolor paper to help control the paints and provide a nice deep black outline to make them pop from my backgrounds.

Alcohol Ink Backgrounds

My first card background was created with Tranquil and Sublime inks and lots of blending solution.  Blending solution is the secret ingredient for these backgrounds, it really helps to get the colors flowing and blending.  I did the Blotchy technique for this one, using the Tim Holtz Mini Alcohol Ink Applicators.

For my second card: on the left side, I blended two colors together Enchanted and Deception then added the yellow Alchemy on the right for a bright and happy background.  This is a combo of the blotchy technique created by laying down two colors and the run technique.

The third and final card has this amazing background created with Mineral and Smolder I kind of love the volcanic lava flow image these two create together.  I use the full “waterfall” technique or run on this one.  All three techniques are shown in my short video below.

Here is the video that walks you step by step through creating each background.  They are super easy to create but one tip if I may, make sure you are working in a well ventilated room, and protect your work surface, this can be “messy” fun.  You can watch the video here or over on my YOUTUBE channel in HD.

You see in the video I’m using Yupo Paper, something else that Ranger brought to us recently.  It’s “plastic” paper, so the ink sits up on top of it giving us way more play time.  I prefer the thick Yupo, but both work very well.  Links to both kinds are below for you.

You make me want to dust off my stash of alcohol inks, Sandi! Are the Alcohol Pearls different from the regular alcohol inks? Thanks for the wonderful inspiration you provide. So much fun, I bet you enjoy the freedom!

    1. Hi Rosemarie, so nice to hear from you. Yes the pearls are different from the regular alcohol inks, they have a pearlescent mixed right into them, awesome, and different finished appearance.

  5. I like the Tranquil color best. Thank you for the wonderful video, love the marbleized look with the brown tones.

  6. The cards are beautiful Sandi. I am planning to try these out. I love the blue/green card but the purple fliers as well. So many great new products and thank you for teaching us how to use them.

    1. Hi Carol, thank you. Yes there are a lot of fun things out there and there seems to be more each month, so it’s fun to play with them.

  7. Love your work. The colors pop right off the card stock. My favorite alcohol ink color would be the red’s. You can do a nice sunset, flowers or a Christmas theme. Thanks for the chance to win some alcohol pearls ink and for sharing your projects.

  8. My favourite alcohol ink colour is metallic gold. I will be using it on my Christmas card’s background. Really like your backgrounds Sandi. Thanks for the video.

  9. I watched the awesome video. Your cards are all beautiful but I’m really turning towards the mineral and smolder pearlized alcohol inks. They make a stunning background.

    1. Hi Sandi, thanks for watching the video and I agree, those two colors together are simply amazing, I could play with them all day.

  10. Thanks for the opportunity to win! I not only love the colours but I love the names of the colours — I think my favourite is “Enchanted”. Nice to see another Canadian company out there!

  11. I love to watch your videos and this one was really cool! I love that you are a Canadian girl and thanks for the chance at the giveaway. Keep them coming. ❤️

  12. Yesss! no that you are no longer limited to that one company, your creativity can really shine through. Thanks for all the tutorials. My favourite TH colour you ask? Sometimes Intrigue or sublime sometimes good ol” lettuce or caramel.

  13. Such pretty cards, Sandy. I guess because I love sunsets my favorite colors would have to be oranges and yellow. I haven’t gotten into the alcohol inks yet but would love it and maybe get started very soon especially if i win. Love your blog.

  14. Karen Kearney Andrews

I sure love all the vibrant colour tones you used in the awesome cards you created! I find that Usually, I am first attracted royal blue tones. You’ve made me realize that I should try embossing flowers in black, so that technique is something new that I look forward to trying. Many thanks!

  15. I enjoy learning about all the new products. We don’t have any dedicated stamp stores in our city so I appreciate your video programs. The backgrounds are beautiful! Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

  16. I was intrigued by your video Sandi, as Alcohol Inks are not something I have tried yet. I know I would love to try making a sky background, perhaps using Cloudy Blue in the Alcohol inks or Tranquil in the Alcohol Pearls. I too love the black embossing for the flower.
