Alcohol Pearls Backgrounds New Video

Hi stamping friends, today I’m sharing some Alcohol Pearls Backgrounds New Video.

If you are reading this in an e-mail you may need to CLICK HERE to visit my blog to view the new video.

Tim Holtz introduced these new Alcohol Pearls at Creativation 2019.  There are 12 new colors in these specially blended inks.  The mixture is similar to using the Metallic Mixatives, but different in that the pearlization, is in the ink instead of being added on top.  Therefore, it doesn’t create a white sheen like the Mixatives, it shows a true color with a pearlized finish – truly stunning!  and worthy of a play.

For today’s cards I also decided to use the My Favorite Things – Flowers In Bloom Stamp and Die set as my overlay on my cards.  They are lovely flowers and a great size to watercolor which I did with my Gansai Tambi watercolors.  You could also use watercolor pencils/crayons, zig markers, tombow markers, etc.

I black heat embossed the images onto my watercolor paper to help control the paints and provide a nice deep black outline to make them pop from my backgrounds.

Alcohol Ink Backgrounds

My first card background was created with Tranquil and Sublime inks and lots of blending solution.  Blending solution is the secret ingredient for these backgrounds, it really helps to get the colors flowing and blending.  I did the Blotchy technique for this one, using the Tim Holtz Mini Alcohol Ink Applicators.

For my second card: on the left side, I blended two colors together Enchanted and Deception then added the yellow Alchemy on the right for a bright and happy background.  This is a combo of the blotchy technique created by laying down two colors and the run technique.

The third and final card has this amazing background created with Mineral and Smolder I kind of love the volcanic lava flow image these two create together.  I use the full “waterfall” technique or run on this one.  All three techniques are shown in my short video below.

Here is the video that walks you step by step through creating each background.  They are super easy to create but one tip if I may, make sure you are working in a well ventilated room, and protect your work surface, this can be “messy” fun.  You can watch the video here or over on my YOUTUBE channel in HD.

You see in the video I’m using Yupo Paper, something else that Ranger brought to us recently.  It’s “plastic” paper, so the ink sits up on top of it giving us way more play time.  I prefer the thick Yupo, but both work very well.  Links to both kinds are below for you.
