Cheery Snowflakes Shaker Card

SURPRISE – Tonight is another NEW RELEASE from SIMON SAYS STAMP with a pile more new products. YEAH! I’m starting off the second half of the month with a Cheery Snowflakes Shaker Card created with the new Cheery Snowflakes Embossing Folder and the Fretwork Snowflake Die from the previous release.

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure.

Start by creating the card front first from a piece of watercolor paper cut at 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.  Spray it with water, then Distress Mica Stains in Wonderland, Shiny Bauble, Frosty Mint and Snow Flurries.

PRO-TIP:  Spraying the paper with water first helps the sprays move around and you don’t get the “spray blobs”.

Next, once the panel is dry,  spray the back of it with water and emboss it with the NEW CHEERY SNOWFLAKES EMBOSSING FOLDER.

Then, once the piece is dry again, run a white pigment ink pad over the embossed areas to highlight them.

PRO-TIP:  make sure your mica spray is completely dry, as the moisture from the white ink pad can activate it again.  You will get a small amount of blue on the edge of your ink pad, I just wipe it off with a cloth and reink that corner.

Cheery Snowflakes Shaker Cards

I went back and forth with the design and ended up with enough pieces to make two cards so I’m sharing them both here today.

How to create the Cheery Snowflakes Shaker Card #1

Start by creating the card front as described above.  Next, use a circle die to cut out a circle big enough to showcase the Fretwork Snowflake Die.

Next, run strips of foam tape around the circle on the back, and around the outside of the piece.

Then, fill the circle with confetti and sequins.  I used a mix of blue and clear sequins, and blue and white snowflake sequins from my stash.

Finally, remove the protect cover from the foam tape. Lay a white A2 sized top folding card base over it to create the back for the shaker.

Then, Die cut the snowflake and the Celebrate sentiment from the beautiful Luxe Glitter Paper.   (I’m in love with this stuff – LOL can you tell)?

How to create the Cheery Snowflakes Shaker Card #3

Start by cutting a piece of Luxe Glitter paper to 4-1/4″ to 5-1/2″ and attaching it to the front of a top folding A2 sized white card base. (4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″).

Next, cut a piece of white cardstock 3-3/4″ x 5″ and die cut the Fretwork Snowflake from the top of it.  You will get the beautiful die cut with the stitched border which I just love.

Glue this down over the Luxe Glitter Paper.  Add the white center of the snowflake back into the die cut center.

Die cut the celebrate sentiment from the Luxe Glitter paper and glue to the card front.

Using the CELEBRATE sentiment, allows me to use these cards for any celebration through the winter months, a great addition to my stash.
