Daffodil Spray Glimmer Hot Foil Cards

Hi card making friends, happy Friday! (finally), LOL.  Today I’m sharing 3 Daffodil Spray Glimmer Hot Foil Cards created with the Spellbinders February Glimmer of the Month Kit.  Once again, another fabulous image to create with and boy did I have some fun.  Apparently, I was really in the mood to color, haha.  I love Daffodils, they are to me, the first signs of spring and after long cold winters, always welcome.

Daffodil Spray Intro

Originally, I was going to do three cards from clean and simple, through to advanced.  I nailed the clean and simple, LOL, the other two, I got a little carried away with the coloring, soooo, here we are, haha.

My favorite daffodils are the white ones with the yellow centers, but I needed to do a shout out to the little yellow fellows too.  What’s your favorite color?

I did keep the measurements the same for all three cards.

  • Art piece:  3-3/4 x 5″
  • Matt:  3-7/8 x 5-1/8″
  • Card Front:  4-1/4 x 5-1/2″
  • Card Bases:  all white, 4-1/4″ x 11, score and fold at 5-1/2″.

How to create the Daffodil Spray Glimmer Hot Foil Cards #1

Start by using Polished Brass Foil to hot foil the image onto Hammermill White cardstock.

PRO-TIPHammermill White cardstock is super smooth and super white so it lends itself beautifully to excellent foiling results, it’s also fabulous for copic coloring.

Next, color the image with copic markers and then color in the background in black. (colors used are at the end of the post).  I used some grays on the white parts of the flowers to add some depth and shadow.

Matt in Mirror Gold Cardstock and then add a Chamomile colored card front.

Finally, heat foil the sentiment in Polished Brass on white and use the coordinating die to cut it out and attach it to the card using foam squares.

How to create the Daffodil Spray Glimmer Hot Foil Cards #2

The first few steps are the same as card 1 except this time use Copic Markers BG0000 and BG01 to color in the background.

Next, the flower centers are done with the oranges, Y38, YR04, YR07 with Y15 as the base coat.

Finally, add the same color matts to this card and the sentiment foiled on black cardstock.

How to create the Daffodil Spray Glimmer Hot Foil Cards #3

Card three is super easy.  Start by ink blending Distress Oxide Inks in Squeezed Lemonade and Mowed Lawn onto the art piece.

Next, once the ink is dry, glimmer hot foil the image in Polished Brass Foil.

Then add the mirror gold matt and a black card front.

Finally, heat foil the sentiment in black and die cut it with the coordinating dies.

  1. Love all three cards but the white and yellow card is my favorite. I love daffodils too. We finally live in an area where you can have daffodils and tulips. None of those in FL where I lived for many years. In fact spring is so pretty in Virginia compared to Florida. Living in Canada, I bet you really love the spring!.

  2. I love the white with yellow centers on the black background. That is stunning! Also, thanks for the color chart alongside the card. Very helpful and easy to see how the Copics were used. Love daffodils, too, but none here in Arizona!

    1. Thank you Gayle, yes, I like seeing a visual of the copics used too, so I’ll try and include photos like that more often. You are the second person today who has said no daffodils in Arizona, it must be just too hot for them eh?
