Hey card making friends. Today I’m sharing a Distress Oxide Spray Halloween card with you. Distress Oxide Inks are great for beautiful and dramatic backgrounds. For today’s card I went with very traditional Halloween colors and then used the new Simon Says Stamp Halloween Damask layered Stencil to create the design.
PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure.
This is a super fast and easy card to create and if you have children it would be fun to make it with them too.
This card also works for the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge over on their Blog: The theme this week is “Add Some Words”
How to create the Distress Oxide Spray Halloween card.
Start with a piece of watercolor paper 4″ x 5-1/4″. Spritz both sides with water than place inside the Tim Holtz Splat box, and spritz with Distress Oxide Sprays: Mustard Seed, Ripe Persimmon, and Wilted Violet. Dry with a heat tool.
PRO-TIP – the secret to a good spray blend is to wet the paper first. Wetting both sides, stops it from curling so much. As Distress Oxide Ink is opaque, you can spray right up to the other color for a great blended look without having the color of the paper base show.
Next, place the Halloween Damask stencil over the dry piece and using a blending brush, add black ink.
Then, Once the ink is completely dry, place the other mask over the piece and use white embossing paste to add all the little spooky eyes.
Adding the sentiment to the Distress Oxide Spray Halloween Card:
Start by die cutting the Fancy Happy Halloween sentiment shadow from vellum. Then cut the words from black cardstock.
Next, use Bearly art glue to glue the two together and then place small pieces of foam tape on the back, behind the writing so it doesn’t show.
Then, attach to the center of the card front.
Card Base: White, 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″, score and fold at 4-1/4
Card front: Black 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″
