Distress Oxide Sprays Wonky Tree-o

Hi cardmaking friends.  Today I’m participating in the Simon Says Stamp, Instagram hop for the Season of Wonder release.  I decided to do a Distress Oxide Sprays Wonky Tree-o card for you today.  This die set was designed by Cathy Zielske for this release, and the little Wonky Trees  are so adorable.  I grabbed a bunch of Tim Holtz products to play and create today’s card.

PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. See below for my full disclosure.

I started by creating the paper for today’s card with a 1/2 sheet of watercolor paper.  I sprayed it with water (both sides to help keep it flat), and then doused it with Seedless Preserves and Wilted Violet Distress Oxide Sprays.  Picked it up and moved it around to really get the colors to run.

How to create the Distress Oxide Sprays Wonky Tree-o card:

Start by die cutting the tree pieces from the treated watercolor paper.  Then cut a card front 4-1/4″  x 5-1/2″ as well.

Cut the sentiment from Christmas Wishes sentiment strips and also spray it lightly with the Distress Oxide Sprays and set aside to dry.

Next, lay all the tree pieces onto a protected work surface and cover them with Tim Holtz Distress Crackle paste.  While the paste is wet, sprinkle on Simon Says Stamp Unicorn Dust.

Then, while the tree pieces are drying, use the Wonky Rectangles dies to cut a white card front, and the Harmony Snowflakes dies to cut small background snowflakes from the winter glitter 6 x 6 paper.  Use foam tape to attach the Wonky Rectangle to the card front.

Start by using foam tape pieces to attach the small tree piece to the front of the tall tree piece, then use Bearly Art Glue to glue the stand to the back.

Next, once the glue is dry, add Crystal Stickles randomly around the edges of the trees for added bling (like there isn’t enough already, haha).

Then, use more foam tape to attach the trees to the card front.  Use the Bearly Art Glue to attach the snowflakes in and around the trees.

Finally, more foam tape to secure the sentiment.  Embellish the top of the trees with a large silver gem from the Sands of Time Gems.

This card has such a groovy modern feel with the purple/pink color combo, the funky or (wonky as Cathy calls them, LOL), trees, and all the bling.  Never too much bling.

Hope you enjoyed today’s card.  It was really quite easy and you could mass product these, even faster if you wanted to use pattern paper instead of the crackle glitz mess I came up with, LOL.  Hey, she with the dirtiest fingers wins!….
