On to the Easy Ink Smooshing Technique.

This technique has been around for a while now and it’s loads of fun.  Say hello to inky fingers, second only to dirty gardening fingers in my book!, haha.

Three colors of Distress Oxide Inks are used in today’s projects, they are water activated and perfect for this technique:

  • Mowed Lawn
  • Mustard Seed
  • Abandoned Coral

In the video below I share how I used the Waffle Flower Water Media Mat to work on.  It’s a life saver for containing creative projects like this one, haha, and easy clean up too.

I use Canson 140# cold pressed watercolor paper for today’s project and cut a bunch up at 4 x 5-1/4.  Hey, once you start playing, you don’t want to have to stop to cut up more paper right?

Also, you need a landing pad for those works of art, so have some paper towel or waxed paper handy off to the side to lay them to dry.

About the Cards:

Once I had my backgrounds done and dry, I used my Misti Stamping Platform to stamp the image in VersaMark Ink and black heat emboss them.

I used the same image on all three cards, showing a variety of ways to use it.

Finally, for the third card, I silver embossed the lovely Herringbone Background Stamp over my smooshing.  Then I silver embossed the Hello Lovely stamp into a piece of vellum, die cut it with the coordinating die and attached it to the card front….for a completely different look.  Platinum embossing powder would also be pretty here.

Concord & 9th HELLO LOVELY Clear Stamp Set ( SSS | ELH | SBC | C&9 )

The Concord & 9th Hello Lovely Stamp set is a two step stamping set, wherein the stamps are provided to fill in the outline image.  You can also just stamp the outline image and color it, or heat emboss it as I have done today.  Those fill in stamps, also make beautiful background washes for the stamped image too.

and if you are not into fussy cutting, there is a coordinating die set.  The “lovely” die cut sentiment on card three is also in there along with a “hello” in a banner.
