Happy weekend. Today I’m sharing an Easy Santa Shaker Card. This is the Simon Hurley Sketched Santa Stamp and Die set that came out in July, with it’s adorable Santa Images, lots of parcels and bobbles to help decorate your cards, and a great selection of sentiments too. I love it when everything you need is in one stamp set, don’t you?
With the holidays fast approaching, it’s time to start thinking about getting our cards finished and into the mail, and this easy one is certainly mass-produced.
PLEASE NOTE: This post contains affiliate links. I’ve included my full disclosure below.
Products Used:
- Simon Hurley Sketched Santas Stamp and Die Set
- Distress Oxide Inks: Tumbled Glass and Broken China
- Everlasting Circle Dies
- Simon Says Stamp Unicorn Dust Glitter
- Misti
How to create the Easy Santa Shaker Card
Start by creating a white card base 4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″. Then, Ink blend the front with Distress Oxide ink in Tumbled Glass and Broken China. Once the ink is dry, trim 1/8″ off the side and bottom of the card.
Next, cut a white card front 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″. Cut a circle out before placing it into your Misti and stamping the sentiment under the circle.
Then, place in your Splatter Box and splatter with black paint, in just a couple of places.
Easy Santa Shaker Card – Creating the Shaker Pouch.
Trim a cello bag to fit behind the circle on the card front, shake in some Unicorn Dust Glitter and seal closed with scotch tape.
Next, glue the bag to the back side of the card front.
Then glue the card front to the card base.
PRO-TIP – using glitter instead of sequins and other chunky shaker guts, makes the card thinner but you still get the shaker effect. No extra postage required, and I bet if you dig around in your craft room, you have oodles of glitter you can use up. I know I sure did.
Embellishing the Easy Santa Shaker Card:
Using Simon Says Stamp Intense Black Ink (copic friendly), and using a Misti, stamp Santa and the parcels onto a piece of white cardstock 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″.
Next, Color with Copic Markers:
Red: R27, Greens: YG03, YG17, Pinks: RV10, RV13, Turquoise: BG11, BG13, Gray for Santa’s beard and white fur, No, N1, N2, Boots and Gloves N5, N6, N7.
Then, Cut out with the coordinating dies and attach to the card front with small foam squares.
