Hello my card making friends. It’s the monthly Crafty Friends Blog Hop and I’m sharing a Slimline Card Gina K Colossal Cone Flower Card. Wow, that’s a mouthful eh! haha…..
Like everyone else I’m obsessed with Slimline cards right now and the wonderful stamping real estate they provide. So for today’s card I used the Colossal Cone Flower stamp set and the Masking Technique. I’m also using Yana Smakula’s Coloring the Negative Space technique too.
This month, We are happy to announce our special Brand is Gina K Designs but I bet you guessed that already, haha
Gina has kindly offered a 20% Discount on any orders you place through me today and tomorrow (Aug 20 – 21) so if you have a wish list on the go, now is the perfect time to add a few new items to your stash. Use the Code: CRAFTYFRIENDS20 – and visit Gina’s Site HERE
How to create the Slimline Card Gina K Colossal Cone Flower Card:
Start by cutting the card front and the mat with the Pinkfresh Slim Diagonal Stitched Rectangles and Neenah Solar White 80# card.
Place the card front into my Misti and stamp the two flower heads onto Gina’s Masking Magic and cut them out. TIP, cut the solid outside line off to eliminate any halos during the masking technique.
Stamp the flower in the bottom left corner and mask it before stamping the second one, then mask that one to add the leaves. Repeat the process on the right side with just one flower.
- Color the images with copic markers:
Violet: RV10, V04, V09, V12, V15 - Leaves: YG03, YG17, YG67
- Brown: E43, E23, E00 Y19
- Blue for background: BG07 – TIP – this step using a lot of ink, so pick a pen you have a refill for
Once you are finished coloring all the images, take the BG07 and color in the entire background. I used the brush point in all the small spots and to outline the florals, and then switched to the chisel tip to fill in the big space. Once I was happy with that, I placed the art piece back into my Misti to stamp the sentiment.
I used a tape runner to attach it to the mat and then foam tape to attach it to the card base which is Neenah Solar White 110#, 8 x 9-1/4, score and fold at 4″.
Finally, embellish with Simon Says Stamp Blue Lagoon Sequins
