Happy B Day Spellbinders

Such a fun blog post today, Happy B Day Spellbinders.  Spellbinders turns 20 today, that’s a long time to be around in the crafting world and they are still going strong.  To celebrate they have a HUGE NEW RELEASE out today visit SPELLBINDERS.  I am honored to be sharing two cards with you made with some of these fabulous new products.

My absolute favorite die set from this release is the Topsy Turvy Cake Dies.  I used them in both my cards showing you how to stretch them to a Slimline Card or scale them down to fit an A2 sized card.

All supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links are used at no cost to you and product disclosure is below.  As always, I appreciate your support of my Blog and YouTube Channel.

Surprisingly, I had to create a rainbow card (LOL I love making these).  Creating a slimline card allows me to use all the different cake layers in this amazing die selection.  I’m also playing with two NEW Embossing Folders, the Party Spots for the Slimline card and the Hand Drawn Scallops for the A2 card.  Embossing folders provide interest in the background of your art elements without adding a pile of work.

How to create the Slimline Happy B Day Spellbinders Slimline Card:

Firstly, start with a piece of white measuring 3-1/2 x 8-1/2.  Place inside the Party Spots Embossing Folder and run through the die cut machine.

Next, mount this to a 3-3/4 x 8-3/4 white card base with a piece of turquoise on the front for a border and contrast.

Finally, get out your scrap bin and go to town die cutting and in laying all the fun pieces.

TIP, place a piece of scotch tape on the back of the large piece giving the inlay pieces something to stick too.

After that, sprinkle the left over pieces around the white background and glue down.

Alternatively – use the confetti you created to make a shaker card.  I decided not to as my card was already pretty busy.

How to create the Happy B Day Spellbinders A2 Card:

First, start with a piece of white measuring 4 x 5-1/4.  Place inside the new Hand Drawn Scallops embossing folder and run it through the die cutting machine.

Next, attach to the white A2 sized card base, 4-1/4 x 11, with a piece of 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 turquoise attached to the front.

After that, use the dies to die cut the cake pieces.

Inlay them and add the icing and then attach them to the card front with foam squares to add a bit of dimension.

Finally, die cut some gold stars to embellish the card.

Adding the Sentiment:

The sentiment for both cards are created with the June Clear Stamp Set of the Month

One of my favorite new things in this release is the New Universal Plate System for the Platinum Die Cutting Machine.

The Universal Plate System is a set of seven plates that work in manual die-cutting machines such as the Platinum, Platinum6 and Big Shot Machines.  The new longer size allows versatility when die-cutting and embossing.  The new Universal Plate System will accommodate slimline dies and larger embossing folders.  These plates will work with most brands of thin metal cutting dies, steel rule dies, 2D and 3D Embossing Folders by layering the plates.  It will be the only plate system you will need.

  1. I absolutely love both of these cards Sandi. The colours, the designs and the fact the cake die can also work on an A2 – genius! They are both so happy and a wonderful way to celebrate Spellbinders birthday! Definitely a party on both cards lol
