Hi card making friends and welcome back. My parcel FINALLY arrived, so I have a card created with this month’s Hero ARTS(MMH) for Jan/2022. This kit contains a large stamp set with a two step stamping beautiful branch full of flowers which to me represents Wisteria so that’s my theme for this card. There is also a fabulous A2 sized plate die with a keyhole cut in the center and a beautifully etched border.
When we lived in Portland there was a huge old tree across the street and someone a long time ago had planted wisteria that grew up it. When it bloomed it was magnificent. Many of the blooms were at the top creating a beautiful purple canopy on this fabulous old tree. I decided to try and duplicate those beautiful flowers for todays card.
Hero Arts MMH Jan 2022 Through the Keyhole Card:
Set the first solid image stamp on top of a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 piece of Hammermill white cardstock inside the Misti.
Ink it with Hero Hues Thistle Purple and stamp the image. Clean the stamp and remove.
Next, line up the second outline stamp over the first stamped image. I found linking up the branch limb worked the best.
Ink this stamp in Purple Galaxy and stamp over the existing image to create the detail.
For the branch:
This month’s kit comes with 4 ink cubes so I decided to use the brown Cup \\O’of Joe to ink my branch stamp.
Line up the solid branch stamp and attach it to the lid of the Misti. Lay it flat, ink it with the brown in, and then lightly tap it with a scrap piece of cardstock to remove some of the ink.
Stamp the Image. If you take off too much ink, repeat the process. The Cup O’ Joe ink is very dark brown, and I wanted it a bit lighter to go with my card front and this worked perfectly. (kind of like first/second generation stamping, but upside down, haha).
Finally, cut out the branch with the coordinating die.
repeat with the two smaller extension pieces.
Creating the Card front:
The cover plate keyhole die fits perfectly on a 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 piece of card stock. I used Pebble here for mine.
Once cut, remove the die and the center piece is cut out. It also creates a beautiful etched border which is beautiful and understated. (and worth coloring on another card).
Next on a separate piece of Hammermill white 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 – use the blending brushes to add Key lime Fizz, Lemon Drop and Pool Party (from bottom to top).
This combination is a little on the light side, so I further added Green Apple over the Keyline at the bottom and some Splash over the Pool Party at the top.
Finally, Lay the Keyhole die over the background piece, without attaching it. Stamp the stepping stones in Fog and the Butterflies in Thistle.
Attach the two together and mount to a top folding white A2 sized card base.
I stamped and cut out all the sentiments and then auditioned them. I decided on “Sending Loving Thoughts”.
