Hero Arts Winding Road

Hi card making friends and welcome back.  I have two new cards to share with you today created with the Add on Products for August.  The first is Hero Arts Winding Road.  this is a Heroscape bundle (layered stamping), which I absolutely love as they create the most beautiful scenes.  This one reminds me of living in Canada’s North (where we are now).  It takes days to get anywhere, so you get up at the crack of 0 dark 30 and get on the road.

Driving south, as the sun comes up and lights up the sky is a beautiful site, however you have to have your wits about you because there is ALWAYS wildlife on the road.  For today’s card I chose to add a deer family as that is what we see most in our travels, but we have also seen bears, moose, porcupines, racoons etc.  It seems everyone wants to get up early and get going, haha

The Heroscape stamping is super easy with the assistance of a Misti.  This allows you to line up the stamps and stamp numerous times in the exact same spot of you need to.  I also use the Misti Sticky Mats to ensure my card stock doesn’t move while I’m adding all the ink layers. I start with paper larger than my finished card so I can center the image and cut off any excess.

This stamp set also includes a nice variety of sentiments covering many occasions.  I chose to make a masculine birthday card with mine today as I have non in my stash.

How to create the Hero Arts Winding Road Card

Start by placing a piece of white cardstock into the Misti and stamping the road in gray.

Next, add the yellow centerline

Then, stamp the tree line in light green, change out the stamp to the overlay stamp and stamp that in the darker green.

Finally, use the coordinating die to cut the piece out and set it aside.

Creating the Sky background piece.

Start by making a sun mask from Gina K masking Magic.  Cover where the sun will be and use blending brushes to add yellow and orange ink to the sky.

Next, remove the mask and add the reverse mask, then use blending brushes to color in the sun, adding extra orange on the left side for a bit of a shadow.

Once the ink is dry, place the piece back into the Misti and stamp the birds and your choice of sentiments.

On a separate piece of cardstock, stamp the deer twice.  Cut off the antlers on one to make it a female deer.

Finally, layer the pieces together, trim down and attach to a A2 sized top folding white card base with a black front.

Again, the Misti is the perfect tool to create this embossed resist cactus card.

Start with a white card front in the Misti.  Remove the foam pad, as the Cactus Bold Prints stamp is a rubber and foam stamp.

Next, starting at the top, add one color at a time to the stamp and stamp the image.  Clean the stamp between colors so as to not contaminate your ink pads.

Colors Used from the top:  Lemon drop, Key Lime Fizz, Blue Raspberry, Ultra Pink Grape Slush.

Next, clean the stamp and apply embossing Ink.

Stamp over the cactus with the embossing ink, add clear embossing powder and heat set.

Then, use a blending brush to add Splash ink to the background.

Finally, use a dry cloth to wipe the piece down, removing any ink sitting on top of the embossed cactus.

Use the Happy Thanks Stamp & Cut XL set to add a sentiment to the center of the card.
