Keeping it simple

Hi stamping friends and welcome back.  Today’s card is all about “Keeping it simple” with a pretty floral, a heart felt sentiment and a quick stamped background.  I’m once again using the” Look for the Rainbows” September Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp.  I can’t believe how versatile this stamp set is, I’m having so much fun creating with it.

Keeping it Simple, Look for the Rainbow Purple card

For today’s card share I stamped the floral image in Gina K Amalgam Ink onto Canson 140# watercolor paper and then used my Gansai Tambi watercolors and brush to color the image.  Once it was dry, I die cut it out and then added a few highlights with my white gel pen.

P.S. Die cuts for this stamp set are an add on, don’t forget to order yours here.

I was originally going to use one of the patterned papers from the kit for my background, but I decided to create my own “background noise”.

I took the two small leaf stamps and randomly stamped them across my piece of Fog card stock in Fog ink.  You could also use VersaMark Embossing Ink to create the same “watermark” effect.  A simple way to add a little bit of interest that doesn’t overpower the card.

Finally, I chose the larger sentiment and used my Misti to stamp it in the center of the card front.  You could also use one of the smaller sentiments and white heat emboss it in black and tuck it up under the flower spray as well.

To finish, I mounted it to a A2 sized White SSS Ultra Thick card base and then added the floral spray with foam tape to add a bit of dimension to the card.

This beautiful 6 x 8 stamp set has so many possibilities, stay tuned, I have more ideas for you coming soon.  You can purchase the stamp set/coordinating dies separately from the card kit, but the kit is an amazing value at $34.99 or $29.99 when you subscribe to the SSS monthly kits.
