New Card Making Video | Color Combos for Handmade Cards #1 | Vivid Expressions Collection from Spellbinders

Hey crafty friends, welcome back.  I have something a little different to share with you today.  Color Combos for Handmade Cards #1.  I have a new card-making video, and I created 5 cards using the new Spellbinders Vivid Expressions Collection.  For my color choices, I dug into one of my Color Cube Boxes and picked a card, dragged out all my cardstock in those colors, and then challenged myself to use the colors in my cards.  It was fun and challenging, and I hope you enjoy the video.

As I said, I’m playing with the entire new Vivid Expressions Collection release from Spellbinders in today’s video.  The Vivid Blooms Floral die set as a beautiful and creative selection of flower dies,  there are great sentiments to BetterPress or foil, and some fabulous border dies too.  It is a truly beautiful collection that you will love creating with.

Color Combos For Handmade Cards – The Color Cubes

Color Cube #391 has a lovely color selection and combined with the dies provided some beautiful bold blooms for my cards.  Whether your mojo is failing you, or you just want to try some new color combinations like me, these cards are a great resource and really inspire me to try new colors, and break out of my blue/green box.  Although as luck would have it, my beautiful teal was included, YEAH!

Color Cube has a couple of different products – I have the Double Cube Set, as shown above, because, hey, I need all the colors, LOL.  You can also buy each box individually.

They also have a “I want it all” package which includes the digital download (which I also have, but I prefer those pretty little cards).

Wanting to add a little more fun and challenge to my cardmaking, I’ve decided to do these videos once a month (or more), so grab your cubes and create along with me.

Color Combos for Handmade Cards – The Sentiment Sets:

Two  of the Sentiment sets are BetterPress Plates, so you can BetterPress or Glimmer Hot foil with them.  I chose to glimmer foil both sets with white foil.

Sweeping Script Sentiments

Ideal Moments Sentiments

Vivid Script Sentiments – is a Die set with shadow dies for the background (which I love), it really makes them pop.

Color Combos For Handmade Cards – Card 5:

Card #5 is created with the beautiful Blooming Butterflies 3D Embossing Folder and Die Set.

I used Lindy’s Magicals with watercolor paper for this one.  While the appearance is completely different from the other cards, the same colors were implemented:

  • Cheerio Cherry
  • Crumpet Crumbs
  • Pinkies Up Pink
  • Lizzy’s Cuppa Tea Teal

I also used Distress Oxide Inks in Tumbled Glass and Broken China for the ink blended background.

Here is today’s cardmaking video.  It’s a little on the long side, but to be expected for 5 cards right?  Don’t forget to SUBSCRIBE to my YOUTUBE Channel, and ring the bell, that way you will receive a notification when I upload future videos.

  1. Wow! Your video was incredible. Packed with all kinds of cool ideas for using a variety of products. I always thought I had to use green for leaves! Not true! Love this new Spellbinders collection and you did a great job showcasing them on a collection of very beautiful cards!
