Happy Thursday cardmaking friends – haha. Just in case you need to know what day of the week it is. Are you losing track of that like I am? I’m spending my time crafting and loving it…Still too cold outside to garden, so I’m making paper flowers instead. Today’s new card making video uses the new Simon Says Stamp – April Follow the Rainbow Card Kit and 4 cards I created with it.
The sentiments in the Follow the Rainbow Stamp Set are also very supportive, so these cards are all being mailed out to friends just to share a little love and let them know I’m thinking of them.
This card kit is definitely my Mail Highlight each month. I can’t wait to open the box and see what the kit includes and it’s a great price point too. You always get a stamp set, maybe a die or stencil, paper, envelopes and many other goodies. This month was no exception, watch the beginning of my Video below to see all the goodies.
ALSO – There are some major Sales, Discounts and Free stuff being shared by many of our favorite Stamp Companies. I have listed them all over on my CRAFTY SALES page, and there is a link to that at the end of this post, just in case you need some retail therapy while you #StayAtHome.
I REALLY LOVE THIS Clouds for Days Stencil really a lot, so much so, I ordered two, so I’m having a give away at the end of the post. One of you wonderful readers can love on it too.
As I said, I made four cards this month from the supplies in the kit. a couple of stenciled backgrounds, a smooshed background, I used the awesome White Embossing Powder and some of the amazing Whimsy Stamps Rainbow patterned paper with the paper piecing technique. So the cards range from 10 minutes, to “what the heck were you thinking”, haha where I mask, stencil, color all on one card.
Card #1 – April Follow the Rainbow Card Kit:
It started off innocently enough, with a bit of stenciling, I added some sunshine at the very top as a hopeful sign that the storm is almost over. I kept the bottom of the card very light so the sentiment would show up and I paper pieced her dress and umbrella. Just a tiny bit of coloring for the legs, shoes and water.
Of note, My Misti was used extensively for all of this stamping on all of the cards.
Card #2 – I added a SMOOSHED Background:
I incorporated some Distress Oxide inks on my Waffle Flower Media Mat to create the SMOOSHED background, a bit more copic coloring and paper pieced the umbrella….this rainbow paper has some fabulous elements in it, and it’s really thick too making it so easy to work with.
Card #3 – The 10 Minutes to WOW card
Only have 10 minutes to make a card? No problem. I picked a piece of that fabulous patterned paper and simply white embossed the image and sentiment. Using my Misti I was able to do all of that in one stamping.
Of note: there are two pieces of the Simon Says Stamp Ultra Thick White card stock in this month’s kit if you have not tried it yet, it makes the most fabulous card based. really substantial, and I love how professional it makes my cards feel.
Card #4 – April Follow the Rainbow Card Kit.
Is my Over the top, “What were you thinking card”. I stamped it, then I masked her off before stenciling the background in 3 shades of blue, then I unmasked her so I could color that fabulous umbrella, then I masked her again to add splatter. (yep I should have done that in the first step, but I didn’t decide it needed splatter until the end).
I did video the entire creative process so sorry, the video is around 31 minutes long, as it takes you through all 4 cards. You can CLICK HERE to watch it over on my BLOG, or you can watch it in HD over on my YOUTUBE channel – don’t forget to subscribe while you are over there and leave me a comment – I love reading those.

Sweet cards! Love the rainbow colors and your designs are amazing!!
Thanks Amy, the kit was a blast to create with
This is hard because I liked all of the backgrounds. I guess I would say Card #4. I love how you did the puddle…a technique I need to try. And, I’m always working on clouds so I can’t wait to get a stencil for that.
haha, thanks Paula, it doesn’t have to be from my cards, it’s what’s your favorite “technique” to use on cards.
I am inspired! I can’t pick…beautiful one and all. I have been following for years but first comment. Thank you.
Gorgeous cards!!! Love them!
Bonjour
FOR: APRIL FOLLOW THE RAINBOW CARD KIT, I like no.2 the SMOOSHED BACKGROUND, it is an undecided sky but with hope. No.1 CARD #1 – APRIL FOLLOW THE RAINBOW: THINKING OF YOU, very well addressed with the yellow, used in the back of the fading grey clouds as if the sun is welcoming the new day. As always I enjoy your creativity. Merci, Sandi for allowing us to win a free cloud stencil.

Oh my you ask for my favorite background!🥴 I have s lot that I enjoy doing. I guess sponging a background is one if my favorites! My quick and easy fallback is using an Embossing Folder. Lovely cards and the cloud stencil looks neat!
good choices, I love a good sponged background as well Vicki
Your cards are so stunning! Wow!!!!! Hope you have a nice week! A little chilly here too and rainy! Be safe
Thanks Natasha, yep, still chilly here, but according to the weatherman, spring is finally going to arrive later this week, yeah!
