Hi crafty friends, I have 3 new projects to share today: Spellbinders Felt Stitch & Create Pumpkins. This is another die set in the series by designer Nichol Spohr released this month by Spellbinders with their new Merino Felt Line. These beautiful hand-stitched plush pumpkins are fun and relaxing to create and make great custom fall décor items for your home and tiered trays. Or add them to a parcel tag for a friend. Add a magnet to the back for fridge art, or place them in a bowl of stitched items to display in your home. Watch my newest crafty video below for how to create them.

I first used traditional colors for my pumpkin and stitched with coordinating floss; then I decided to try some non-traditional colors and some contrasting floss. Which do you like? I think these will look fabulous in my Tiered Tray for fall décor, and I love the contrasting darker threads.
Today’s crafty video walks you through creating the blue pumpkin on the right, with lots of stitching tips and tricks.
You can check out the entire Felt Stitch & Create release here, I have also added affiliate links at the end of this post for you showcasing the new line.

Spellbinders Felt Stitch & Create Pumpkins – Orange Pumpkin
I started the pumpkin series with the traditional colors.
Cutting:
These are all cut with the Platinum 6 die-cutting machine with the regular die-cutting sandwich, I did add the shim.
Two pumpkin pieces, and a piece of quilt batting cut with the die, snipping off the outside stitch dots so it fits inside the pumpkin sandwich.
Three sets of leaves, two pieces for each color
Two white flowers – singles, and a gold flower center for each.
Two brown stems
Spellbinders Felt Stitch & Create Pumpkins – Green Pumpkin
For my second pumpkin, I decided to go a little overboard, LOL. I had all the pieces stitched and was about to stitch the pumpkin together when I decided to add some “background noise”.
I placed the top pumpkin on my work surface and arranged the leaves and flowers cascading down the right side, then I took a pencil and lightly drew some curly lines.
Next, I stitched the lines with a stem stitch and added 3 French knots at the end of each one. Then, I sandwiched the quilt batting between the two green pumpkin pieces and stitched it together. This way, the back of the stitching is hidden inside the pumpkin. If you stitch these after putting the pumpkin together, you will see the stitch lines on the back.
I just love the dimension in these plushies; it adds so much interest and you can totally personalize each one.
Spellbinders Felt Stitch & Create Pumpkins – Blue Pumpkin
If you have followed me for any time now, you know I like to play with non-traditional colors in my card-making and that flows through to my stitching as well. I also thought these bright colors would show up well in the video.
Here is today’s Crafty Video, walking you through each step of creating these adorable little plushies.
