Scalloped Birdhouse

Hi card making friends and welcome back.  Today’s card is created with the Simon Says Stamp Scalloped Birdhouse die which is part of the Cozy Hugs Release from a couple of weeks ago.  I’m just finally getting around to playing with it and I decided on a Christmas card as I’m trying to get them finished and out in the mail soon.

Boy, Christmas is sneaking up again this year isn’t it.  Of course, by simply changing out the colors or even just the sentiment , you could have a spring card, or even a birthday card.  The color palette I put together today is very neutral, and warm, and I really love it, what do you think?

How to create the Simon Says Stamp Scalloped Birdhouse Christmas Card

Start by die cutting the birdhouse in Audrey Blue cardstock.  Next cut the top, bottom, and the circle around the hole three times from white cardstock, stack and attach to the birdhouse.

Using the berry stem die from the Christmas Foliage die set,  cut the branch eleven times.

Then, color them with copic markers:
Green:  G21, G24, G28,  Yellow:  YR31, YR21, YR24

Finally, die cut the Layered Chickadee die from white cardstock.  Use blending brushes to add distress oxide inks in Antique Linen, Gathered Twigs and Brushed Corduroy.

Creating the background for the Scalloped Birdhouse Card:

Start by using the Stitched Rectangles dies to die cut a card front.

Next, use a blending brush to blend on Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide Ink.

PRO-TIP: – I left the top right corner white, for a bit of contrast and dimension.

Finally, attach to a top folding A2 sized white card base.

Putting it all together:

Start by cutting a piece of Fog cardstock and attach it behind the hole in the bird house.  Then use foam squares to attach the birdhouse to the card front.

Next, use Bearly Art glue with the fine tip to attach all the berry branches around the right side of the birdhouse.  Save one to tuck under the left side.

Then, use more foam squares to attach the bird.

Mix up some white paint and splatter the entire card.

Then, gold heat emboss the sentiment from the Christmas Blessings Stamp Set and attach across the top of the birdhouse

Finally, Embellish with a few Sands of Time Gem Mix, add some snow to the top and bottom white pieces of the birdhouse with Crystal Stickles.  Set aside to dry.

This card did take over an hour to make but I really enjoyed it, plus I’m catching up with season 5 of The Handmaiden’s Tale, so the time went quickly.
