Hi cardmaking friends and welcome to the Simon Says Make Magic Blog Hop. I have 3 new cards for you today created with the Simon Says Stamp Magic Stars background stamp.
Also, today’s video includes my “Painting with Embossing Powder Technique for cardmaking”.
It’s also the second day of the Simon Says Stamp Magic Stars Blog hop – and there are specials and prizes, leave a comment at the end of this post for a chance to win and read on.
The Painting with Embossing Powder Technique:
Todays video walks you through creating three cards using the Painting with Embossing Powder Technique. A regular Slimline Card , a Mini Slimline and an A2 sized card.
Once the embossing is done, the card is finished with the Resist Technique by ink blending Distress Oxide Inks over the card fronts to create these pretty backgrounds.
The Slimline Christmas Card:
Wow Embossing Powder is used on all of the cards today: Strawberry Daiquiri, Copper Fire, Pearl Gold Sparkle, Colour Blend Verdigris, Opaque Bright White, Powder Oceanic and Glitter Persian Indigo. (all linked below for you).
Distress Oxide Inks Used:
Firstly, for this Slimline Card, use Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch over the Violet, Evergreen Bough and Antique Linen
Next, Ink blend a scrap of white with Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet to die cut the top layer of the sentiment.
Simon Says Stamp Wishing You Joy Die is used for this one.
Finally, the other two layers are cut from the Blue Violet card stock, which is the same as the card base. Glue all three together to stack.
Use Vellum for the background piece to allow the color to show through.
***********
Card Base: Simon Says Stamp Blue Violet 7 x 8-1/2, score on the 7″ side at 3-1/2″
Mat: Hammermill White 3-1/4 x 8-1/4″
Card front: Hammermill White 3-1/8 x 8-1/8″
Mini Slimline Greeting Card:
Mini Slimline Cards are all the rage right now and I’m really enjoying the 3-1/4 x 6-1/4 size of them.
Similarly, the technique for this one is the same as the above Slimline card.
Use Distress Oxide Ink: Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet and Salty Ocean for the resist technique.
Next, the sentiment is Simon Says Stamp You Shine.
Finally, the stars are cut with the Shoot for the Stars die set from Tonic Studios
**************
Card Base: Royal Purple: 6-1/2 x 6-1/4″ Score and fold at 3-1/4″
Mat: Hammermill White 3 x 6
Card front/Art Piece: Hammermill White 2=7/8 x 5-7/8″

A2 sized card Paper Hugs:
This third and final card in today’s video is the A2 sized card.
Start by cutting the sentiment with the Simon Says Stamp Paper Hugs Die three times.
Use Bearly Art Glue to stack them together.
Next, use the Picket Fence Studios Clear Paper Glitz to cover the top.
Use your finger to add a light coating to create a beautify sparkly shine.
Finally, add a few more of the stars I had left over from the last card.
**************
Card base: Simon Says Stamp Blue Violet 4-1/4 x 11″ score and fold at 5-1/2″
Mat: Hammermill White 4 x 5-1/4″
Card front/art piece: Hammermill White 3-7/8 x 5-1/8

Hello Sandi, Your video was enjoyable to watch. I have banned glitter from the house but I like how the stars looked with the glitter powder. Your cards are beautiful and you make creating fun.
I’m not a fan of glitter either Laurie, but I do tolerate glitter embossing powder, LOL.
