SImon Says Stamp Sunflower and Daisies

Hi cardmaking friends and welcome back.  Today I’m sharing three cards created with the Simon Says Stamp Sunflower and Daisies Card Kit.  I’m diving back into work after a week off at Cannon Beach (in Oregon, USA).  We had lovely weather and being by the ocean always seems to heal me.  Ian and I are still grieving the loss of Oscar and Lucy and this was the first road trip without them in 13 years, so that in itself was weird.  We had lovely friends drive out to the beach to visit us and visited more on our trip through Portland.  It was so nice to see everyone and reconnect after 7 long years of being away.

I have a pile of “work mail” sitting here for me when we returned.  The first box I dove into was the Simon Says Stamp Sunflower and Daisies Card Kit.  This kit is full of all kinds of fun products and I had to start off with the Fresh Daisies Embossing Folder.

Sept 27th Draw – Sorry I forgot to post this on the 27th.  Winner of the Fall Gnomes Stamp and Die (and card) draw:  Sharon Moore

who wrote:  Thank you Sandi for the inspiration. Your cards are always so colorful and vibrant. My favorite fall activity is sitting around a fire talking with friends, or new friends!
Sharon, please send me your mailing address thank you so much

Sunflower and Daisies Card #1

Background: The Ink Smooshing Technique

Start with a piece of watercolor cardstock 4-1/4 x 5-1/2.  Work on top of your GLASS MAT  and smoosh the Pearfection Pawsitively Saturated Ink Pad onto the Glass Mat.  Spritz with water to dilute and then smoosh the cardstock into the ink.  Use a heat tool to dry between smooshings.  Switch to the Citrine Ink pad and repeat until then entire card surface is covered.

Next, place the piece inside the Misti stamping tool and stamp the piece with the Old Letter 1878 background stamp in Latte ink (very light brown).

Then, spritz the back of the card stock with clean water.  Place inside the Fresh Daisies Embossing Folder and run through the die cut machine.

Finally, use a heat tool to dry the cardstock again.

Adding Color:

Start by using small blending brushes to add Simon Says Stamp Premium Pigment White Ink to the daisies.  Then Perfection ink to the green raised bits.

Next, add Citrone Ink to the flower centers.

Finally, attach to a top folding A2 sized white card base.

Sunflower and Daisies Card #2

Start with a card front in watercolor cardstock 2-7/8″ x 5-7/8″,  Complete with the same ink technique above.

Next, mat in Ivory 3″ x 6″, and then a Mini Slimline card base in Neenah Desert Storm cardstock 6-1/2″ x 6-1/4″, scored and folded at 3-1/4″

Then, stamp, watercolor with the ink pads from the kit and cut out the single sunflower from the stamp set.

Finally, add one of the tags in the kit to the center of the card and attach the sunflower.  Place it back into the Misti and stamp the sentiment in dark brown.

Embellish with Simon Says Stamp Stay Gold Sequins and a bow from the twine in the kit.

Sunflower and Daisies Card #3

I think I’ll dedicate this card to Bob Marley, as these colors are his countries flag colors, haha, I just noticed that.  Let’s get together and it’l be all right – now that song is stuck in my head, LOL

Start by cutting a piece of Ivory cardstock 3-3/4 x 5″ and cover with a two sized adhesive sheet.  Use the cardstock from the kit and cut strips 1-1/4″ long.  Attach them to the card stock and trim off the ends.

Next, use a Misti to stamp the large flower image in VersaMark Ink onto the card front.  Cover with Gold Embossing Powder, shake off the excess and heat set.

Then, mat with a piece of Ivory 3-7/8″ x 5-1/8″.  Wrap the twine around twice before attaching to a top folding A2 sized Neenah Desert Storm card base.

Finally, die cut a small tag using the Simon Says Stamp Nested Tags Dies.  Gold emboss a sentiment and attach to the card front.  Add a bow made with the twine.

The kit is now sold out but you can still order the products individually, I have them linked below.

About my Glass Mat.

You can view my white glass mat in my recent YouTube Videos here.  I love the white glass mat because I can see where I have ink and sticky things that I may not want on my cards.  My mat is also magnetic.  I ordered three of their very strong magnets to hold my projects in place while I work on them.  It’s also gridded to help me with lining up layers, embellishments and sentiments.  I have the 18′ x 24″ and it fits my workspace perfectly.

  1. The sunflower and daisies are wonderful. The card that intrigues me is the card in the Bob Marley colors. I love the large stripes of color with the gold embossed sunflowers. The stripes add dimension and the gold embossing is so elegant.

  2. They are all so pretty Sandi – gorgeous kit from SSS and you made some lovely projects. Think my favourite was the ink smooshed yellow/green card – making me dream of Spring! Hope that you had a lovely holiday xx

    1. Thanks so much Lisa, and yes we did have lovely holiday. As Always, we wish it was longer but it was so good to be able to reconnect with friends again
