Spellbinders BetterPress Autumn Collection Card Making Tutorial

Hi card making friends and welcome back.  Today I’m sharing 3 cards created with the Spellbinders BetterPress Autumn Collection  – a new release this month.  This release is full of beautiful fall images.  The leaf dies really spoke to me.

Spellbinders BetterPress Autumn Collection

When you take 2 weeks off, you get behind in your work.  You’ve been there right? I’m there right now, so I wanted to make clean and simple, fast and easy cards. But, I wanted them to be super pretty. So I dug through my background paper stash and came up with these. They have been created with Lindy’s Magicals, Hydrangea Blue, Lucky Shamrock Green, Time to Travel Teal, and Tibetan Poppy.
Using these papers gives me the watercolor look I want for these pretty leaves, without all the work.  I share a few videos over on my YOUTUBE channel on using these powders to create these beautiful backgrounds.

I also used the Spellbinders BetterPress Cotton Card Panels for today’s cards.  This paper gives fabulous press results.  NOTE:  I did try pressing on my regular Hammermill cardstock and added an extra shim.  I also got great results – so you can “use what you have”.

Using the Spellbinders BetterPRESS System, and their BLACK INK, I was able to easily get these beautiful images.

Another NEW PRODUCT this month, the Notched Corner Frames.  These are nested and great for layering sentiments and backgrounds.

Spellbinders BetterPress Autumn Collection:  Card #1

Start with the Autumn Leaves plates and use Black Betterpress ink to press the leaves.  Then press the sentiment from  the Autumn Thanks Frame set onto a piece of white Cotton cardstock.

Next, use the coordinating dies to cut the leaveas out.

Then, cut a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ white card front.  Emboss it with the Leafy 3D Embossing Folder and attach to the front of an A2 sized top folding white card base.

Next, use the Notched Corner Frames to die cut the sentiment, the next one larger from Mirror Gold cardstock, finally the last one from Teal Topaz card stock.

Finally, glue the leaves onto the card front.  Layer the sentiment pieces using glue and foam squares and attach them to the center of the card.

Spellbinders BetterPress Autumn Collection – Card #2

Start with all the same steps as in card #1.  This time using only the oak leaf.

Using the BetterPress Black Ink, Press the sentiments from the NEW” A little Message Sentiments” ( this is a great basic sentiment set for your stash). Die cut it with the coordinating dies.

Finally, embellish with the Teal Color Essentials Gems.

Spellbinders BetterPress Autumn Collection – Card #3

Start, by using the BetterPress Black ink to press the Autumn Thanks Frame onto the colored paper and the sentiment onto white.

Next, Fussy cut out the leaves, then use the Notched Corner Frames to cut the sentiment and the Mirror Gold Mat.

Then, emboss a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ white card front with the Leafy 3D embossing Folder and attach it to the card front.

Finally, use liquid glue to attach the leaf frame and then foam squares to attach the sentiment.

  1. Very pretty. Like your different choice for the color scheme for a fall card. Fun to try something different. I like to make pink sunflowers!
