Spellbinders Botanical Atrium

Happy New Year card-making friends. I’m starting the new year off with Spellbinders Botanical Atrium. This is the Large Die of the Month Kit for January 2025, and it’s truly beautiful. I did change it up a bit, though. The white background under the florals is the die for the outline of the Atrium. There is a second die that cuts out the inside, that I didn’t use it.  It does make a fabulous highlight piece all on it’s own with that beautiful arched tip, don’t you think?

For today’s card I also decided to make my own paper and play with some pigments.

hand made papers using lindy's magicals and Nuvo shimmer Powders in greens and reds

Making the Paper:

The two on the left are made with Lindy’s Magicals, in Ponderosa Pines Olive, Ramblin Rose Pink and Autumn Maple Crimson.  On the right the top is Atlantis Burst, the bottom is Atlantis Burst with an overlay of Golden Sparkler.

To make these, spritz watercolor paper, then sprinkle on the pigment powders, and spritz again until you get it running.  Lift the paper to move it around for full coverage, add pigment and continue spritzing until  you achieve the color you want, then set aside to dry.  You can also use a heat tool to dry them quickly, which I did.

How to create the Spellbinders Botanical Atrium

Start by creating the papers and letting them dry.

Next, cut a card front from the teal, 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ and attach it to a top folding A2 sized white card base:  4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″.

Then, die cut the white background piece.  Lightly ink blend from the top left corner with Simon Says Stamp Seafoam ink.  Then splatter additional ink over it.  Attach it to the top center of the card front with foam squares.

Finally, die cut the flowers and butterflies.  Add a small amount of Flannel ink to the petal seams of the white flowers.  Attach them with foam squares over the white panel.

Place the card into the Misti and stamp the sentiment in the bottom right corner with VersaMark Ink.  Then gold heat emboss it.
