Spellbinders Floral Butterfly

Hi  paper crafting friends and welcome back.  Today I’m sharing Spellbinders Floral Butterfly.  These are two cards created with the New March Small Die of the Month Club Kit, which you can order starting today through March 27th.  This beautiful set of dies also coordinates with the Clear stamp and Die set of the month, which I used to cut out the center piece in my card.  I’ll circle back in a few days with cards created with the stamp set.

I did a couple of different techniques this month, I hope you enjoy them.

Spellbinders Floral Butterfly Card #1

Start by watercoloring panels of watercolor paper with Distress Oxide Reinkers in Ripe Persimmon, Festive Berries and Squeezed Lemonade.

Next, use these to cut out the background panels, butterflies and flowers.  Cut the leaf stems from Mirror Gold cardstock.

Then, glue everything together on top of a top folding white A2 sized card base.

ProTIP – Once I had the entire background glued down and the butterflies in place, I decided I had too much white space.  So I cut a second set of backgrounds from the pink watercolor paper and inlaid the side scallops and the flowers.

Finally, use the center panel Die from the this months’ Clear Stamp and Die set to die cut the pink center.  Embellish with the sentiment and more flowers.

Spellbinders Floral Butterfly Card #2

Start by cutting the background panels from white cardstock twice, and mirror gold once.  Layer the two white together, then glue the gold one to the back offsetting it slightly so it shows through.  Repeat this twice for the top and bottom of the card front.

Next, Die cut the butterflies and center panel from mirror gold cardstock and the embellishments from white.  Layer, glue and attach to the card

Use the March Clear Stamp and Die set Butterfly Burst to gold emboss the sentiments.  Cut them out with the coordinating dies and attach to the center section of the card.

Starting today March 6th, you can subscribe to the new clubs.  Pick one, or choose from some of the great money saving VALUE CLUB bundles.  These clubs are combined to save you money on the product and the shipping costs and are a great value.  They are so fun to receive each month and create with.  You can also pause your subscription any time you like,

  1. Yet another stunning set of cards. Love your ability to put together color combinations and make the same basic layout look so different. Always enjoy seeing your projects! Hope you had a wonderful birthday.

  2. Glad you had a great birthday! Both cards are so pretty but the white and gold one is my favorite! You got me wondering what your destination was (ie, what is the City)? My thought was maybe Montreal…

    1. Hi Linda, thank you on the card. The city was Calgary. We live about 30 minutes outside of it in Cochrane Alberta (1 hour away from BANFF). The NHL games are only played in the big cities.

      1. Hi! I am embarrassed to say I forgot to check back and see the answer to my question. Years ago we had a big satellite dish and could get Anik the satellite that carried the CBC. We loved Canadian television and even watched Coronation St religiously. We were not into Hockey Night in Canada, but were big North of 60 fans, Fifth Estate and so many other shows. We loved Second City tv and of course Bob and Doug McKenzie and the Great White North. We learned so much about Canada and really enjoyed being a part of it. We were so disappointed when the decision was made to scramble the signal and we lost it all.

        1. yes, those where some good old shows for sure, LOL. We miss a lot of the shows we used to see when we lived in Portland, LOL I guess you always miss what you can’t have, LOL

          1. We at lest get Britbox and have Netflix so have more than regular tv
            , thanks for your replies.

  3. Belated birthday wishes from the UK. Hope you enjoyed your day. Beautiful cards. Love that they are both so different. I can’t wait for my kits to arrive.
My mum was from Russell in Manitoba. A bit remote I understand, though the closest I’ve been is Ontario. Maybe one day…

    1. Thank you Delia. Hope your kits come soon. Yes, Russell Manitoba is a bit remote, and very cold in the winter, LOL. Make sure you visit in the summer, although then the black flies will eat you alive, LOL
