Spellbinders Skating Into the Holidays Die Cut Card

Hey card making friends, welcome back and Happy Friday.  Today I’m sharing Spellbinders Skating Into the Holidays Die Cut Cards.  The Spellbinders Monthly Clubs go live starting tomorrow (the 6th), and this is the Small Die of the Month Kit combined with the sentiment from the Clear Stamp and Die of the Month, Christmas Magic Sentiments.  Yes, it’s Christmas In July month and once again, the clubs are amazing.

I love making Christmas cards, it’s what got me into card making about 35 + years ago, LOL, so it’s going to be a fun month for me, plus it gives me a head start on my cards for the holidays.  I like to work ahead so that it’s not a big crunch in November.  So let’s dive in shall we.

The Skating Into the Holidays die set are beautiful.  Yes, there are very cool dies that make the skates, but you don’t have to use them.  There are enough poinsettia and foliage dies that you could do an entire card just in flowers as well.  Also try some new color combos as I have today, it’s fun to change them up.

How to create the Spellbinders Skating Into the Holidays Die Cut Card

Start by die cutting a Hammermill white card front with the Stitched Rectangles Dies.  This adds a pretty border and added interest to your card front.

Next, use a blending brush to add Evergreen Bough Distress Oxide Ink to the panel, leaving the top right corner white.

Then, splatter with white acrylic paint to imitate snow.

Finally, attach this to a top folding A2 sized white card base, 4-1/4″ x 11″, score and fold at 5-1/2″.

Spellbinders Skating Into the Holidays Die Cut Card – Putting it all together

Start by die cutting all the foliage.  I did the poinsettia in Waterfall, the leaves and stems in Mint and Blue Spruce, the berries in Chamomile and White, and the skate blades in Silver Mirror.  Ink the poinsettia with Broken China Distress Oxide Inks, and the mint foliage with Evergreen Bough Ink.  For the berries, add shadow with Copic Markers YR21, YR24, YR31.

Next, Glue the skates down first using foam squares to add Dimension, then add the two larger Poinsettias, fill in with the foliage and Berries.

Then, add Crystal Stickles to the flower centers and the bottom round of the white berries.

Finally, gold heat emboss the sentiment and use the coordinating dies to cut out and add to the top left of the card.

I’ll be posting the rest of the clubs and inspiration over the next week for you.
