Howdy my card making friends. Today I have some Stitched and Glimmer Butterflies to share with you as part of the Spellbinders BLOG HOP for the May Club Kits. The kits this month all have a “stitched” theme to them, but I’m also sharing how you can create with these kits and NOT STITCH. I have heard from a few readers that don’t love to stitch, LOL. I get that. And, there is also a give away, see details below.
I poked my fingers so many times stitching these butterflies I was wondering why I like it so much haha. Of course I was watching a movie and not paying proper attention, so it’s not the butterflies fault, LOL.
There is a give away for today’s hop too, so check out all the wonderful creations and leave comments along the way for your chance to win. (info below).
All supplies are linked to multiple sources in the thumbnails at the end of this post. Compensated affiliate links are used at no cost to you and product disclosure is below. As always, I appreciate your support of my Blog and YouTube Channel.
Today’s cards are creating with the Glimmer of the Month Kit today called Stitched Glimmer Butterflies. There are numerous dies in this kit including two butterflies, one face on, and one sideways. Also, dies that allow you to stitch the butterfly wings, cut them, or just layer the die cuts. Finally, and a pretty selection of sentiments to foil and add to your cards. So many fun options.
Create the card fronts with the May Embossing Folder of the month, Faux Stitch. It’s one of the new Multi Size Folders being large enough to emboss 4 different card sizes as shown below with last month’s folder.
Creating the Stitched Glimmer Butterflies Cards:
Let’s start with the stitched card first.
Die cut the butterfly and then use blending brushes to add Festive Berries and Dried Marigold Oxide Inks to the butterflies.
Once the ink is dry, use gold DMC cotton thread to stitch the pieces.
Next, die cut the bodies from gold card stock and glue together.
Then, use the Faux Stitch embossing folder to emboss the card front before attaching it to the card base.
Finally, add the butterflies using foam squares and some Gold Mix Color Essential Gems.
Die Cut Inlaid Butterfly Card:
For the second card, reverse the colors. Blend the embossed card front in Festive Berries, Spiced Marmalade and Dried Marigold distress oxide Ink and leave the butterflies white.
Next die cut the butterflies and the inside wing pieces with the dies that cut out the pieces. Die cut them again in colored cardstock and inlay the colors into the white bases.
TIP – I place small pieces of scotch tape on the back of the white die cuts to hold the colored inlaid pieces.
Next, die cut the bodies in gold and glue together.
Finally, mount the card front to the white top folding A2 sized card base and add the butterflies using foam squares to pop them up.
Additionally, embellish with Gold Mix Color Essential gems.
