Picket Fence Studios Tropical Hibiscus Bouquet

You know me, I love a good flower stamp.  So, when I received my packet from Picket Fence Studios for the new release this month I squealed at this one.  Say hello to the Picket Fence Studios Tropical Hibiscus Bouquet…..it’s SO FABULOUS and part of today’s NEW RELEASE.

It’s a beautiful LARGE stamp, these cards are 5 x 7 so it would also be perfect for a scrapbooking page too.  The solid line image is also great for many stamping techniques.

I chose to watercolor them today, but  gold heat embossing on black would also be fabulous, how about over a beautiful alcohol ink background, or perhaps colored with copic markers?

Hibiscus flowers always remind me of Hawaii, cold drinks, warm sun and beautiful surroundings.  I think I needed to put all of those emotions into my first card, LOL.

How to create the Picket Fence Studios Tropical Hibiscus Bouquet Cards:

I used Gamsai Tambi watercolors and for this card #42 yellow, #34 pink, #139 purple, #52 green, #57 blue,  I did the wet on wet technique, diluting the watercolor and adding it to a wet petal on the flower to allow the colors to blend together.

Next I did a more watered down version of the paint for the background and again added it to a wet surface to let it bleed.  I love that look.

The Second Card:

I calmed down a bit for the second card, haha….omitting the purple, and leaving more white space on this one.  Just adding a bit of splatter to the background helps to tie it in.

To complete both cards I cut the art pieces down to 4-3/8 x 6-3/8.

Next, add a black mat 4-1/2 x 6-1/2

Finally, attach it to a 5 x 7 side folding white card base.

Adding the Sentiment:

The sentiments are both from the Fancy Congratulations Sentiment stamp and die set from the February release.  I have used this set quite a few times for cards for various occasions, it’s certainly a staple in my stamping stash.

Embellishments:

for the techno color card I used the Jewels of the Nile Sequins, for the pink and yellow card I used the Gin and Tonic Sequin Mix.

and speaking of jewels.  I have to point out the new ones available today because I’m over the moon for them.

These are the Sands of Time Jewel Mix and they are stunning.  Light and dark Gold and Crystal clear, all with a iridescent finish on them and in 4 sizes (all in one package).  AND, there is a boatload of them in this package…..you need these, they go with everything.

And one last thing I want to point out in this new release today – because I think both of these items are going to sell out quickly and I don’t want you to miss out.

You know I love paper glaze, I get right into it for backgrounds because they are so fabulous.  Picket Fence Studios has come out with two colors in Ombre – perfect for a blended background, especially on your Slimline Cards right?….Nicole has started us off with Sunset Purples and Sky Blues.  I’m not quite sure which ones to use first, haha, but I’m working on it.
