August 2021 Spellbinders Small Die of the Month kit

Hi cardmaking friends and welcome back. Today it’s the August 2021 Spellbinders Small Die of the Month card. It’s called Hex Kaleidoscope Tile. It’s FABULOUS, has 6 cutting dies and also coordinates with the LARGE Die of the Month Kit card I shared the other day.

You can line this one up two or three times across an A2 sized card, or twice down an A2 sized card. Add layers and pieces to the front of a slimline card. Interchanging the Kaleidoscope pieces, or you can do a single line across the center of a Mini Slimline Card as I have done here today.

Once again, the Spellbinders dies cut beautifully with the pieces all but falling out of the dies.

The Kaleidoscope pieces align perfectly and are a different interior shape to the Large Die of the Month Kit, but are the same size, so you can change them back and forth between the two background dies adding to the versatility.

I’m still playing with my subtle color scheme. This time I incorporated Teal Topaz as my highlight color.

How to create the August 2021 Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Mini Slimline Card:

My colors are White, Silver Fox, and Oatmeal Cookie with my highlight color being Teal Topaz. I find this color palette soft and subtle and works well with mirror gold highlights too.

Cut the hex front piece in white and glue it down to the Silver Fox Mat 2-5/8 x 6-1/8″.

Then attach this to a 3 x 6-1/2 white card base.

Die cut the Kaleidoscope pieces back to front: Teal Topaz, White, Oatmeal Cookie.

Stack and glue them together and then glue them to either end of the card. The fine tip on the Bearly Art Glue is absolutely perfect for gluing these intricate pieces together.

Adding the Sentiment:

One of the many things I love about the Spellbinders monthly kits is that they usually coordinate.

The Foiled sentiment in the center hex is from the new Glimmer Hot Foil of the month Kit, called Hex Floral and I glimmered it in gold to match the Rhinestones I was using.

Cut the floral pieces with the Spellbinders Mini Blooms & Springs Die set and attach them around the sentiment. The leaves are cut from Mirror Gold to coordinate with the sentiment.

Finally, add a Color Essentials Gems in Gold Mix Rhinestone to the center of the flower.

This card is reasonable fast and easy to create, the sentiment neutral, and can be used for many occasions.
