Sketched Florals and Frame

Hey cardmaking friends, thanks so much for stopping in.  Today I’m playing with the New Spellbinders Small Die of the Month Kit for December and it’s called Sketched Florals and Frame.

The frame die is not used for this particular card, but I will in a future card for you.  You can see the frame in the illustration below.

CARD MAKING TECHNIQUE:

The main card making technique today is “Die Cutting” with a smidge of ink blending thrown in.

I decided to cover the entire front panel of my card with flowers.  Additionally, I wanted a dramatic yet feminine effect so pink on black fit the bill.  I needed bling, so gold leaves, more bling – a cascade of gems.  Finally, a beautifully glimmer foiled sentiment to top off the loveliness.

I love how this came together and while it looks like it took hours, it really didn’t.  About an hour from start to finish.

How to create the Sketched Florals & Frame Card:

Use the inside and outside of the floral dies to cut out all the outline pieces from gold card stock.

Next, use just the outline die to cut the white blanks for the flowers.

Use a small blending brush and Distress Oxide Ink Picked Raspberry to add color to the centers of the white flower blanks

Next, use the fine tipped Bearly Art Glue to glue the gold outline over the white flower blanks.

Creating the Leaves.

Cut the leaves from the Brushed Gold card stock.

Use small pieces of tape on the back to hold the little leaf pieces in place

Then add a small piece of foam tape to the back of each.

Putting it all together:

Create a white A2 sized card base.  This one is 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, scored and folded at 4-1/4 to create a side folding card.

Attach a black card front.

Next, add foam squares to the back of the flowers and lay then out across the card.

Use Yana’s Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil to foil a sentiment in Polished Brass Glimmer Foil on black and attach it at the bottom.

Arrange the leaves and attach them.

Finally, fill in any large blank space with the Gold Mix Color Essential Gems.
