Spellbinders New Start

Happy weekend cardmaking friends.  Today I have two new cards to share with you created with the Spellbinders New Start stamp set.  This set is full of butterflies and sentiments and I coupled it with the Fluted Classic Circles Etched dies, also new this month.

These dies are fabulous, they create little cuts all around the outside border which creates the beautiful fluted edge.  They come in many different sizes and shapes, I think I need the slimline ones next, haha.

Creating the Spellbinders New Start Cards:

For Both Cards:

Die cut the largest of the Fluted Classic Circles in watercolor paper and a second one in regular white cardstock for the back.

I used the Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers to watercolor both cards.  They are currently on sale at Spellbinders for 50% OFF, and they are fabulous for a quick watercolor job without the mess.

To attach the two circles to create the card:

Score a line about 1/2″ in on the back panel.

Add Red Line Tape (extremely strong and sticky).  Remove the protective cover and attach the two circles together, pressing hard where the tape is.

Blue Card:

Start by squeezing out some Jane Davenport Mermaid Marker onto your work surface and smooshing the watercolor piece into the color.

Use a heat tool to dry the paper between each smoosh and continue until the piece is covered.

Next, gold heat emboss the butterflies across the circle

watercolor with more Jan Davenport Markers.

White heat emboss the sentiment onto a scrap of back cardstock and fussy cut around it

Finally, use the Crystal Ninja to add Teal Color Essentials Gems embellishments.

Spellbinders New Start – Green Card:

Gold Heat emboss three butterflies around the circle leaving room to stamp the sentiment.

Watercolor the butterflies with the Jane Davenport Mermaid Markers

Once the butterflies are dry, watercolor the background.  Squeeze some blue ink onto your work surface, add a bit of water to dilute and then use a paintbrush to fill in the background.

Finally, once dry, place inside the Misti and stamp the sentiment in black.
