Spellbinders Monthly Kits

Hi card making friends and welcome back.  Today I’m playing with the Spellbinders Monthly Kits for January and I have 5 cards to share with you.

Do you ever get tired of red white and pink valentines cards?  I kind of do, so I thought I would change it up this year and try some new colors, hope you like them.

These monthly card making kits are bundled so you can easily create with one kit.  However, they all coordinate so I like to combine the elements, it makes it more fun.

So today I have combined:

handmade black white and gold cards created with new cardmaking kits from Spellbinders

Spellbinders Monthly Kits – small Die of the Month.

As with the last card I shared, I went for a more masculine feel with the black white and gold theme of this card.

Start by die cutting the background plate twice, once in black and once in white.

Cut a second card front at 4-1/4 x 5-1/2 and glue down the pieces alternating between the black and white.

You will have enough pieces to create two.

Next, Cut the plate again in gold foil.  Use this piece to fill in the small hearts dies all the way around.

Place one of the center hearts into each card, one black and one white.

Finally, die cut the filigree die in gold and lay it over the center heart.

Use the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month to glimmer the sentiments and add them with foam squares.

Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month and Large Die of the Month Card making Kits:

Ok, it’s pink – BUT, instead of using patterned paper for my background, I created my wallpaper with white die cuts.  It adds depth and texture to the card front.

In the Glimmer Hot foil Kit of the month there are some floral dies.  Use those to cut out the leaves and flower heads enough times to cover the card front.

Use the filigree die from the Large Die of the Month Kit to cut three hearts from white cardstock.  Stack them and attach them to the center of the card

Next, Glue all the leave and flowers around it to create the wallpaper

Finally, add a foiled sentiment.

I was considering adding some jewels around in the background too, but I decided to stop.

Spellbinders Monthly Kits:  Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month – Embossing Folder of the Month

I think waterfall blue cardstock with gold makes a beautiful valentines card.

Start by glimmer heat foiling the heart with Polished Brass Foil onto Waterfall Blue card stock.

Cut it out with the coordinating dies and cut two more from gold foil.

Next, layer the blue heart over the gold hearts to just a small amount of gold shows.

Place the card front into the embossing folder and run it through the Die Cutting Machine before attaching it to the card base.

Add the heart to the center using foam squares to add depth

Finally, add a glimmer hot foil sentiment and a few Gold Color Mix essentials gems.

Clear Stamp Set of the Month

White with highlights of blues and greens is  also a nice Valentine’s Day combination.  I love how the white embossed background pops on this one.

Start by stamping and coloring the center heart.  place the piece back into the Misti.  Stamp it again in VersaMark Ink and Black heat emboss the image.  This darkens it and really highlights the coloring.

Next, emboss the card front with the Spreading Love January Embossing Folder before attaching to a top folding A2 sized card base.

Attach the heat using Foam Squares to add some dept.

Finally, Add a glimmer hot foiled sentiment and a few flowers and leaves.

TIP – the flowers and leaves are another two dies in the Glimmer Hot Foil Kit of the Month for January.

  1. Its a great change of color for Valentine cards. After all the small boxes of heart candy are pastel colors so why not make pastel colored cards? Thanks for the inspiration.Have a great day.
