Thankful Magnolia

Hi card making friends and welcome back.  Today is the Simon Says Stamp Happy and Joyful Release BLOG HOP and boy do we have some great inspiration to share with you.  I have created four cards today with the new Thankful Magnolia Stamp set and the Lined Background Stamp, my two favorite items from this release.

This is a HUGE floral set which lends itself to so many techniques and coloring options it was hard to settle on just two, but I did it.  There is a coordinating die available for this beautiful floral.  I don’t have it, but the floral wasn’t too bad to fussy cut out.

Slimline Thankful Magnolia Card:

Use a Misti to stamp the image onto a 5 x 7 piece of Hammermill White cardstock with Simon’s Intense black Ink.

Color the image with Copic Markers:
Pinks:  RV10,13,14,19

Greens:  YG3,17,67

Browns:  E31,35,57

Next, fussy cut out the flower or use the coordinating die to cut out the image.

Cut the card front from black cardstock 3-1/4 x 8-1/4.  Place the Fanfare stencil over the card front and ink with a VersaMark Ink Pad.

Cover with gold embossing powder, shake off the excess and heat set.

Line the stencil up again, and repeat the steps to complete the top of the card front.

Layer the card front to a mat in Pink and then a white card base cut at 7-3/4 x 8-3/4, score and fold at 3-7/8

Gold emboss the two sentiments on scraps of black cardstock and trim.

Finally, layer everything to the card using foam squares to add the sentiments for a bit of dimension to the card.

Lined Background Magnolia Card:

This is a 6 x 6 square card just to give you an idea of the size of this beautiful floral image.

Start by stamping the image in copic friendly black ink.

Next, color the image in gray tones just to add some depth.  Copics:  N0, N1, N3

Fussy cut out the floral or use the coordinating die to cut.

Creating the Lined Background:

Place the Lined Background stamp into the Misti face up.

Next, Ink it really well VersaMark Ink, and over that with Pawsitivily Saturated Ink in Taffy

Place a 6 x 6 piece of cardstock over this and rub really well to transfer the ink.

Finally, cover with clear embossing powder, shake off the excess and heat set.

This creates a nice shiny finished background.

Cut the background panel down to 5-1/4 and mat it in black before attaching it to a top folding 6 x 6 white card base.

Attach the floral image using foam squares.

White heat emboss the sentiment on a scrap of black and add it to the top of the card.

Thankful Magnolia, Card #3

Card three is a combination of the first two.  Color the magnolia with the same copics as card 1.

To create the background, us Simon’s FOG Ink on the Lined Background stamp.  Cut the piece down to 3-3/4 x 5-3/4.  Mount that to a 4 x 6 piece of white and then attach that to a 5 x 7 white card base with a Fog cardstock front.

Finally, for the sentiment, it’s cut from the Reverse Sassy Birthday preprinted sets.
