Happy Mother’s Day Card Bold Leaves Card

Hey card making friends, welcome back.  Today’s share is a Happy Mother’s Day Card Bold Leaves Card.  The Bold Leaves stamp and the new Leafy Sprigs dies have to be my two favorite products from the last couple of Simon releases.  They go beautifully together on a card.  I was also fooling around with ink and embossing powder and came up with a bit of a fun overlay technique.  Dig out your Misti cause we are going to do some multi layer stamping.

I have two different color combos to share with you too so grab a coffee and let’s make a card together

Happy Mother's Day Card with Bold Leaves

You have to let go of perfection for this technique.  Yep, you are going to get gold embossing powder everywhere, but that’s kind of the fun of it, LOL.

How to create the Happy Mother’s Day Bold Leaves Card

Supplies used:

Bold Leaves Background Stamp

Leafy Sprig Die

Simple Mother’s Day Wafer Die

Stay Gold Sequins

Matte Gold card stock

Pawsitively Saturated Ink – TROPIC

Start by placing a 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ piece of white hammermill paper into the center of the Misti, stuck to a sticky mat.

Next, Place the Bold Leaves stamp center of the card stock.  Close the Misti to secure the stamp to the lid.

PRO-TIP – as this is a red rubber stamp with a foam backing, you will want to take out the foam platform from the Misti so you don’t damage your hinges.

Then, ink the leaves with Pawsitively Saturated Ink in Tropic.  Stamp the image onto the cardstock.

Gold Embossed Layer:

Clean the stamp but do not move the stamp or the cardstock.

Next, use a sponge dauber and daube VersaMark ink onto one edge of each of the leaves.

Then, use the Cottontail Embossing Powder tool and run it over your white cardstock, making sure the Tropic ink is dry before you stamp.

Next, stamp the inked up stamp again over the teal ink.  REMOVE the cardstock from the sticky mat, cover with gold embossing powder.

STOP – use a clean dry thin paint brush, and brush off any embossing powder on the middle or other side of the leafs.  You only want the gold on one side of the leafs. (I didn’t clean the leaves off entirely, and I like the bit of shimmer on them.

Finally, when you are happy with where the embossing powder is, heat set it with your heat tool.

Attach the piece to a top folding white A2 sized card base (4-1/4″ x 11″ scored and folded at 5-1/2).

Die cut two Leafy Sprigs from Simon’s Matte Gold cardstock, then die cut the Simple Mother’s Day die in the same Matte Gold.  Cut the shadow from Hammermill White so it matches the card front.

Attach all of the pieces to the center front of the card, and embellish with Simon’s Stay Gold Sequins.

Happy Mother’s Day Card Bold Leaves Card – Orchid

Bold Leaves Background Stamp

Leafy Sprig Die

Celebrate  Wafer Die

Stay Gold Sequins

Matte Gold card stock

Pawsitively Saturated Ink – Orchid

Pawsitively Saturated Ink – Iris

The technique for this card is exactly the same, but also a bit different.

Start with a piece of watercolor paper and stamp the leaves in Iris Ink.  You may have to stamp about 3 times to get a good solid impression as the watercolor paper has a very uneven surface.

Next, do the steps to gold emboss the edge of the leaves.

Then, use a blending brush and cover the entire surface with the Orchid Ink.  Rub the entire surface with a dry towel to pick up any ink sitting on top of the gold embossing

Finally, cut out the CELEBRATE once in Matte Gold and twice in black, stack them together.

Then, cut two Leafy Sprigs from the Matte gold, glue them down the left side of the card and add the sentiment dies overtop.  Add a Reverse Birthday printed sentiment under the die cut.

That’s it, that was my inky fun for this card.   Because of the lumpy nature of the watercolor paper you get great texture on this card.

The Bold Leaves Background Stamp and the Leafy Sprig die would be great additions to your stash and you will definitely see me using them again soon.
